my car is in for service right now and they gave me a 2009 G37 sedan and I'll tell ya that thing is damn fast. i mean, it's amazing how quick it is for a sedan. usually i'd just get the G35 sedans, so this is my first time with the 3.7. WOW!!!

I'd like to hear how it sounds, that's what I care about most really... it just would've been nice to have the two chrome tubes...(when am I actually going to be opening up my hood) I got an FX, not a modded out import...

The ebay seller I bought it from specifies that if the product is opened, then they wouldn't take it back...

Soooooooooooooooo if my car sounds stock with these filters, I'm goin to be looking for g35 ppl to sell this crap too I guess...

What do you think, Hyme, would it sound like an aftermarket intake is supposed to sound like?

not having the air box will make it louder, you will hear it. Having no air box and the tubes would be even more noticable yet. If all you care about is the sound and not performance see if that kit you got will fit mounted straight to the throttle body. This may make it slightly louder but your going to be sucking in hot air mostly and lose some power.

Hate to say it bro but I would go with the stillen setup. You may not think your going to lift that hood up but I bet the time will come. There's always that person out there that wants to look, especially if they hear the intake.

The stillen intake is for the vvel engine, it's mostly the same engine I guess, but it is diff... I'm no expert..but, I'd imagine the mounting points would def be off...by a lot...I dn't know...I might just throw these in and the hell with it, mayb down the line, I'll hook up wit somebody who knows what their doing and throw together a couple of tubes/couplers...n set it up directly to the throtle body. I got the car for 3 yrs...injen will probably make a set up for 09+ FX's...who knows.

Let you know what happens, should be in Friday.

THE INTAKE IS IN...

Put it in today, took about 45 mins, due to mounting point issues..
The mounting points were off by a lot, being that the fx engine bay is different, bigger really. However, a little bending of the brackets and I screwed them into the nearest holes ... I rigged them up with some plastic tie wraps for now, no time to properly make a metal bracket of my own..that should be fun.

Look wise, they look great - sound, awesome. I'm very pleased with the sound I'm getting. HOWEVER, and this is big, I need to know exactly why this is going on...when I hit the gas a little, I get a little backfire from my exhaust, it sounds like there's a puttering noise coming out of my exhaust...I'm not an expert in mechanic so I have no clue why it's happening...I'm guessing maybe because there's a substantial amount of more air coming in? ...and the exhaust is stock? ... Is this bad for my engine?

When I hit the gas hard I don't get that backfiring noise from the exhaust, it's weird. Other than that, it seems all good, I was getting on it a lot, to see if anything would fall apart...Everything seems ok. I'm not getting any lights on the dash either, suprised about that.

I'll have pics up in the next couple of days, probably Sunday... Let me know what you guys think!

2009 FX Injen Intake - DONE. :iS:

You should get a bit of a gurgle when just lightly tapping the throttle. It might be normal. Did you notice it before the intakes went on?

nope, started after I put the intake in. I just spoke to my brother, he's a big gear head - he said it's normal since there's more air coming in...it's makes the exhaust note change...I dnno...I hope it's not causing some sort of build up of air? more air = needing a bigger exhaust?? I don't know.

Well breather mods, like an intake, usually pair well with exhale mods like exhausts. Doesn't mean you have to run out and buy one though.

have someone listen from the back (and switch to listen). Maybe the noise is from the front.

+1 ECU reset (can the 09 FX do a pedal reset? )

any chance you can post an audio clip of this backfire/puttery sound?
pics would be nice too.

As for mounting brackets, home depot sells strips of aluminum normally in their fastener isle or near there ropes & cables

yeah, I've bought some aluminum strips/brackets before...I got an idea of how I'm going to mount these bitches better.

I had a couple friends stand in front (with the hood open) listening, and also in back of the car... it's def comin from the exhaust.

What does an ECU reset do ? (I know what an ECU is)... just never heard of a reset or what it does...let me know - Pics will be up Sunday ...and I'll get an audio clip too..def.

I had to bend the metal heat shield brackets for both sides, as you can almost see...everything came out pretty good... I'm happy with it, the left filter is sitting a little higher than the right, I guess a little more bending would fix it (I really don't care too much tho) - probably going to paint the brackets black- throw some heat resistant brake caliper paint on there, some clear coat to make them shine... and that's about it. Everything looks good, sounds great - no engine lights. Looks like I'm good to go!

Btw, I tryed to get an audio clip with my digi cam, but it came out crappy... I'll work on that soon as I get a little time. Give me some feedback guys...

that's wierd..when i was looking for an intake like ayear ago everyone said the injen ones were not good at all for our engines...

Thks baker, I'll sleep a lot better tnight! Haha nah I think it'll be arright...their dry I'm assuming...

I wouldn't run them dry unless they were ment to run dry, might want to e-mail them to make sure bro.

nevermind, just looked it up and it is a dry AMSOIL filter. These are pretty nice, your supposed to be able to just vaccum them clean.
I almost got one of these but decided to go with the K&N labor intensive wet type filter. Just means I have to clean the MAF sensor every now and then.
