FX50 exhaust

Borla installed yesterday. We finished in about 30 min. It was the a very clean install. Great fit and clean. One thing I read and would like to point out. They mis-labeled all the front pipes left and right wrong. Easy fix if you just hold it up in place first. Other than that, The sound is exactly what I wanted. Clean and no drone. I will get a video today and upload.
Excellent, so you had the Borla Catback installed? I look forward to your pics a videos. Please do one at rest and one under acceleration.

Hey Todd, please update your ride info when you have a chance. It can be a bit confusing if they're not following your post.

Peej has the ARK exhaust that looks beautiful under the car. I think the Borla looks clean, nothing too appealing or bad ass...
My goal is to let this breath a little better , but keep it reasonably quiet before the Paxton supercharger go's on. I would love to hear an ARK system in person and may swap down the road. Borla does have a unique sound and the FX definitely sounds like a V8 now.
Here are some videos I did a few minutes ago:

Nice job Todd! I wasn't aware there was a supercharger kit for the VK50. Interesting.

I never heard of a supercharger kit for the 5.0 either.

Paton doesn't have a Kit, they have kits for mustangs and camaros but also sell superchargers by themselves. They use centrifugal superchargers (the ones that look like turbos) so he is likely getting a full custom setup done, and just using a Paxton SC with all custom piping etc.

Correct, no kit exist. Forced Induction Tuning thought a twin turbo would be major overkill and redoing exhaust and cold side. Single turbo would be more of a headache with how everything is plumbed right now. He has done many Kenne bells, turbos and Paxton/Vortech. He/we felt the new SQ series would be perfect and quiet. My other concern was adding an instant grunt might harm the AWD, but still wanted about 80-100 extra hp. We agreed that a Paxton supercharger would be perfect. Under 3k RPM it will feel the same, but step on the gas and it will deliver that extra... I have two other builds and usually do twins on everything, but since this is my daily driver...
This is my 1986 Grand National, twins and a supercharger. Gotta get a little more power out of this fx50!!!

I custom fabricated a set of hfc's for a g37 into my 5.0 qx70 a month ago & i never got a a CEL. The trick is if you get them make sure they have extended bungs for the 02 sensors like mine.

Has anyone heard of or has any experience with Yonaka HFC? Just found their link searching the web. Wanting to avoid CEL, not sure if test pipes will?

I'm running test pipes with no CEL for around a year (I think?) The key part is having the o2 sensors set back from the pipes whether through spacers or a J pipe like mine have, and you won't have a CEL.

Ark Exhaust Install Issue

Holy crap I have not posted in almost forever! I sure have been lurking around the forum and drooling over the fun stuff many of you have done with your FXs. So after two years of waiting for the next mod and getting bored with my 50s (Yes, I still have it :)), I finally pulled the trigger on an Exhaust mod [I know, sacrilegious to post with no video but you will see why]. This and other threads made me make the Ark decision after I waffled on Varex for the ability to turn it off and on as well as Borla. Got it installed on Monday and the good news first:
OMG! I feel like I just spent a ton to get my car sounding like it should have from the factory. (I used to have a pre-2009 FX and that note was intoxicating and I missed it so much). I was concerned that it would be too loud or obnoxious and I can say that the note is just perfect (for me)! Civilized when you want and beastly when you decide. Very minimal drone but when you want to hear it roar, easy enough. The startup sound is just beautiful and I find myself driving in DS more now for those rev matching downshifts that make it sound like the engine is being held against its will. Lol
Now for the not so good: I had the exhaust dealer installed to be safe (I am handy but I did not want to risk it and I don't have access to a work garage this Summer). Right off the bat, I knew something wasn't right. Upon closer inspection, I realized that from the back, it was crooked(!). Not a little crooked or a few mm off but like 3 - 5 inches laterally AND vertically. I immediately asked for an adjustment or something and after waiting 5 hours and missing more time from work than I thought would, I was shown the install to prove that everything was done well. It appears that the actual exhaust was crooked!! These pictures don't do it justice but needless to say I am not happy at all. Dealer and Ark are going back and forth but I am left with a crazy expensive part that looks cock-eyed. I don't know the QC procedure that these go through at Ark but this is ridiculous and I am hoping it is resolved fast. I know that after-market parts are not 100% flush or perfect on install but I wish you could see this in person. The left tip actually extends almost two inches past my rear bumper like some snagged toothed system.
Just thought I'd share my story.

wow! Hopefully Ark sends a new exhaust and pays for the shipping for the bad one. That's not right especially for an exhaust that costs so much money. Where's Lerry?

I have heard of this problem from a Shop that I know. They had a few problems getting the System to fit on the FX50 properly.

You probably have to cut and re-weld the hangers, seems like that will be an easy enough fix. When you mass produce parts like that, sometimes they all can't be perfect. You should send them the receipt to get it sitting correctly and have them refund you that amount...

Good suggestion Jb, although I don't think they will come through with anything.

Hey Guys,
So sorry for the lack of updates here but I wanted to let everyone know that the issue was eventually resolved...almost 10 days after the original install. After a few back and forths, Infiniti and Ark worked together to figure out that there was a part (pipe) shipped with an incorrect label perhaps and the after-market folks at the dealer missed it and installed as labelled but after turning it the other way, it fit well enough.
Pretty low quality video here that does not really show the difference between the stock and Ark but there is certainly one at start-up and while driving, minimal drone. I could use it a little louder but everyone says there is a break-in. However, if it remains like this, I have no regrets. Finally closer to what this car should sound like...

Just put in the ARK exhaust last week.
Love the roar of the engine when starting it up.

I notice a little bit of vibration under my feet especially at low RPMs.
At higher RPMs when downshifting in DS mode, I've heard a loud rattle like I ran over an empty can or something.

Is this normal?

Other than that, I've been pretty happy with it.
Overall sound is pretty modest, but definitely more oomph than stock.
