FX45 Forced Induction

How is this FI project coming along CALI? I'm waiting desperately for updates, been trying to find a viable FI solution for my 05 FX45 for over a year now.

Haven't had time to post my research on this. I talked with a local tuner who put two rear mounted Squire Turbo System (STS) to an Infiniti M45 (VK45DE). Install isn't too involved and AEM Boost Controller, Gauge, AEM Wideband O2 sensor kit with Air / Fuel Gauge and Apexi SAFC NEO were used.

I decided not to go this route as this wouldn't hold up well being exposed in Chicago winters. Aerocharger might also work well.

What I'm really hoping is that the Stillen VK56DE (QX56/Titan/Armada) will fit with little modification. The supercharger should bolt on being the same block, but need to do more reading on the changes Nissan did to the intake manifold, if any. Stillen rep says it will bolt right up to the VK45DE, but hood clearance might be an issue. This isn't a 100% fact that it bolts right up, but hopefully will find out next week.

You'd obviously have to custom tune it and can't use the one that comes with the kit. Hopefully Cube and AMS can help me on this journey.

I'm surprised no one (at least that I know of) tried to bolt on the VK56DE supercharger as if that's the case, tuning should be the easy part as there are a few AWD dynos in my area that specialize in Nissan's (thanks to the huge G35/350z crowd).

Compression is really high on the VK45DE as we know, so the smart thing to do would low boost or get the CP Piston kit on ebay and get a lower compression.

Or I can just get a tunable LM2 from innovate motorsport and just help the FX45 breathe better and buy a FX35 to play with...

Ya, I was going to say if you go with the 56 S/C that you would need the tune. Seems like you have done a lot of research, and I look forward to seeing how it works out.

didn't they make one for the q45 as well the xterras with the 4.0l there gotta be something I need some boost so people will stop running up on me lol.

The Xterra/Pathfinder/Frontier is the VQ40DE engine (V6) are there is a supercharger for it.

I heard of a Q45 FI in development a few years ago, but haven't heard of it since.

Go buy the VK56DE kit and get it tuned!

If any of you guys get it done before me...... let us all know..

This is such a long overdue mod that we need to get done...

Going on 6 years now..lol

we love pioneers like you....I bow to your bravery.. i was just asking the question..why do i only see FI mods on 35's and not 45's, now i know.....I really hope it works well for you..please update so that we can follow the steps....cos I gotta couple of X5M's that i wanna smoke and spit out like a bad cigar.....if you know what i mean....heh he heh

I am totally impressed with all the available mods that are out there....I am totally blown....turbo kits, coilovers, etc.....I am really excited right now I am going to set aside about 5K to do some upgrades......

Sadly, I doubt the FX45 will beat a X5 M with just a supercharger. Need a lot of custom work done and 5K won't even be enough to get it started... but we shall see when someone get this project started.

+ 1 bazzzzzillion! 5K will just about cover beefing up the bottom end, or maybe building the tranny to hold the power. Then again if it was accomplished, at a cost of probably 20Gs on the low end to make reliable power (note the word reliable there...), the X5M is still stock and there ARE upgrades available for it (tune, intakes, DPs, exhausts, and a whole lot more I don't know about).

In retrospect I have debated and debated if this was the route to take with my ride. After many nights of research and theory with the tuner and my buddy i have opted to go in a different direction.

I have just finished with my first purchase of my new engine. I will be doing a full conversion to a VK56 and i plan on doing a custom build to stroke it to a possible 6.3 liter V8 and Supercharge it.

Now I just need a tranny to support the planned 600hp. Wish me luck.

The engine will be delivered next week.

Yes!!!! Let me know how hard the VK56 swap is, I think they changed the engine mounts which sucks, but I'm crossing my fingers the transmission bolts right up.

I know you're changing yours, but if it's possible to see if the VK56 mates to the FX45 tranny.... that would be great.

Where are you going to find the numbers for the FX63:rofl:

As of now the mounts don't match up. I have already made plans with the shop and Auto Explosion to do an adjustments to the chasie to make this work.

Some good welding will be necessary to make this happen.

As for the 63... I plan on taking the 56 from the QX and takin the 35 from the FX to make this work..

Plan on using an S or the Chevy Montecarlo Intimidator edition "Supercharged" logo and place is right under the FX63 decals..:ninja:.. I just hope this all works out.

It will take 1 1/2 months out side build to get the engine and tranny of my choosing and mating it with the engine, ECU management and harnest prep before it goes in the FX.

Then another 1 1/2 months in install and Electrical work. I should be done by FEB or MARCH of 2011.. ughgh..

+1 - Really like to see if the stock tranny bolts up before you swap it out!
