FX35 header install DIY

Good job tchuck!

This is a great contribution to the forum. I love headers as a mod. I've added headers to most of my previous cars and they're a great bang for the buck as far N/A mods go. So how do the new headers feel?

Thanks!

I posted a product review thread with some initial impressions. Once I get the tune dialed in I'll post more in depth about the improvements.

What an excellent DIY for the header install Tim. Well done, and the time you spent documenting it here will benefit anyone else that takes the header challenge.

Great write-up!
Can you touch base on what if anything is needed to be done when installing aftermarket headers as far as tuning, check engine lights etc..

I have yet to tune mine, so I can't speak on that subject just yet. No cel's though, and it runs fine on the map I was using pre- install.

Brilliant! Maybe I missed it, how long would it take working leisurely without stopping?

... and please, give the engine some love [no disrespect intended!]

Are you calling my engine dirty? How dare you! You should be ashamed of yourself. Go wash your mouth out with gross smelling soap immediately. Lever 2000 or something. Disgrazia!!!

Seriously though, its a fairly involved process, and a LOT of the time required is spent turning each nut 1/10th of a turn at a time at an impossibly awkward angle. My point being you'll have no choice but to work at a leisurely pace - its just a long slow process with the motor installed in the car. Id guess that if I had to do it again and for some reason elected not to pull the motor, it would take at least 6 hours. That's a moderate pace with all the tools you need, and knowing exactly what you need to do (follow the guide above).

Wow nice job you did there but a bit much for me these days. I havent installed headers on anything in such a long while and they are almost always tricky depending on the type of car. Excellent DIY

I am using this DIY to assist while changing a broken motor mount (drivers side) and now I'm debating buying headers since im 1/4 the way there already! (Drivers side exhaust manifold is off to access the top motor mount bolt)

any chance you you can link to the thread with your after installation impressions?
