FX35 Engine *clicking* sound, Help! (video)

My 2003 FX35 has been making an odd clicking sound. I've read a few different causes but they either seem to contradict each other or are too vague.
It just hit 120,000 miles and other than this sound it shifts/runs excellent.

Anyone have a definite diagnosis or fix?

**Researched (possible) causes**

^later in the video, I grab the FPR damper and it vibrates but not really in-sync with the click

3.) Spark Plugs: I know I need to change them soon, but the dealership said this $900 fix "might" do it.

You guys are experts compared to me so any help is super appreciated.

Weird.. I had the same noise when my oil was low.. I'm at 230K miles now. After adding my PUU oil, it went away...i also did a spark plug change.


I'll start it up today to see if it still makes that noise.

What's "PUU oil" ?

Sounds like a dry lifter.. Check the oil first. Could also be a bad oil filter.

What's "PUU oil" ?

Same question. Is that an oil additive? If that worked I'll try that. I've just read most additives are cheap non-fixes preying on a bad economy. But this one looks like it cleans "sticky lifters" which is what Themechanic suggested.

I've gone though two full senthetic oil changes so far with the same clicking but next one's coming up in 1,000. Ill ask em put a puppy in there for me.

What's "PUU oil" ?

The day after shooting the video and making this thread, I get in my car and the engine light/gas gauge is lit up like a christmas tree (with half a tank). So I've been preparing myself to follow this super slick DYI post on the issue and I just noticed it's yours. [emoji106] I guess when it rains it pours @ 100thou + miles so thanks for the write up!
