Warning! NEWB here .. my 2nd FX both black how crazy is that? *my project* I'm lowering next week, found a guy that will do it for $225. is that good? wondering if it's worth the trouble to do myself? .. no floor jack, stands or spring compressor, can rent. .. any amateur mechanics want to weigh in?

Other projects completed: gloss Blk. OEM grill, gloss Blk. roof rack .. swapping out 20" Titan wheels for 07 FX45 8 spoke rims, going for a slightly updated extra Blk. not totally Blacked out, updated wheels lowered slightly, as if it might be a factory special addition model they never made! FXS?

Considering Blk. glossing all the plastic trim ground effects, very high estimates on that so far. anyone done that? if so how much was it?
can't decide on door handles,

This may offend a few FX purists, brace yourself, but I may be adding a *Racing stripe! guessing your thinking this guy is lame! give it a chance. the interior is Blk/brick the stripe will be faded brick very faint under the Blk. it will be a diagonal double stripe starting from the passenger side headlight diagonally aft across the hood over the fender stopping half way down the side between the wheel well and the drivers side door seam with a a painted fuji logo, for those doubters suppress that gag reflex long enough to see the images before you decide . . . like I said I am a newbie. cant jpeg yet but I will, hope you appreciate my FXS special addition, any suggestions or pictures will be appreciated. CUTWATER :err:

Welcome to I.S.

Can someone post a summarized version of what he is saying? A lot of words that are unspaced scare me...

In short.. He is doing hella things on his a FX.. Tho some of them are way too much for me.. I would love to see the finishing product.. It might inspired younger crew..

Welcome to the forum. FYI-If you lower with the OEM wheels make sure you add spacers or your wheels will look way too tucked. I suggest 20mm's rear and 25mm's front as the front wheel wells flair out just a bit more. Do the spacers at the same time as the springs. I paid $200.00 for my spring install, $225.00 is a fair price.

Post 06' 45 stockers are slick and look great painted a member has them in gunmetal and they look great.

Stripe not sure, but I would definitely consider drawing it out and then doing some serious photoshop work.

Black trim gloss, all the trim? No brainer......I have seen the price on that mod vary from $800.00 to 2K but it shouldn't go cheap. make sure you trust who is doing the work, not always true but often you get what you pay for.

if you're inclined to lower yourself, u can get all the tools - jack, stands, spring compressor - @ Harbor Freight for less than the cost of labor, look for 20% off coupons in car mags - its a whole day's work for the 1st timer tho.

Hey thanks GJ and DR.2K for the help on lowering and the welcome ...

LOGAN: thanks for the tip on spacing I'm on it!

Question: Do the spacers add additional alignment problems after lowering?

The suggestion on Blacking out all the trim was considered at one time but that is as you said a no brainer and the reason I plan to come up with a different version of BLK on BLK, remember this will be the FXS the one they never made, I started with the grill tried mixing BLK into clear coat to accomplish a black chrome effect it worked but so others who may try this know it add's a slight bronze tone to the black idea, may work great on a different color FX not my black FX, I went full gloss blk. grill and luggage rack and a few other bits looks great!

I am keyed in on subtleties, the stock FX45 wheels will be custom highlighted on the inside surfaces with the same *very muted* clear black over brick color thats going into base color for the .. YES! diagonal hood racing strip! it shall be!

Have to be very carful it doesn't look like the Halloween special version!

thanks for the advice, in one post I have a lot of good new things to consider.

Heres a tip I can pass on, the window/door trim all the way around, theirs 8 pieces tends to fade out to a grayish dull look both my FX's did this, I complained to Infinti they told me they were aware of it and it has been corrected , they replaced all eight and it looks good

As I learn the site better I will post pictures, Thanks again :.smile: CUTWATER..

you mean they changed the trim despite not having the basic warranty? because my dealership denied my request to change them as my warranty had expired 3 weeks ago.

alignment problem? I am not too sure but adding them will require wheel balancing.
lowering your car may require alignment.

Spacers won't create the need for an alignment but its suggested to get an alignment after installing lowering springs. I have heard that its a good idea to wait a couple weeks for everything to settle then go in. I didn't go in until I did my GT-Spec braces which was months later.....

Looking forward to seeing what you do with your ride.

fxs35 or fx35S

The moldings were changed under warranty still I was a little surprised they made it very easy they even suggested I change out the front drivers side lower sean cushion it looked a little stretched out, I now have a new seat!
