Hi all,
I have to make a decision this week and I would like to hear your opinion:

Option 1:
04/2014 QX70 d S Premium, 14.000 km, graphit shadow. 40.000€

Option 2:
10/2013 FX30d S Premium, 25.000 km, obsidian black, winter tires 21", new engine at 22.000 km by Infiniti, 39.000 €

Both diesel, same interior and same condition, both at the official Infiniti dealer. In Germany Infiniti gives three years guarantee.

How resistant is the black paint against scratches?

*cries* i find it tough to decide. Need help :-)

I think I'd go for the one that has less miles, little bit newer, only slightly more in cost, and didn't have the engine replaced.

I would go for Option 1, better to get a year newer for 1,000 euros more.
As in any dark paint they will get more visible swirls, Infiniti only used the scratch resistant paint in 2009, I don't think it was any better than the regular finish.

I would go for option 1.
Having the engine replaced at a dealership, even with Infiniti certified technicians, the car won't be as good as manufactured at the factory.

I have a black FX as well and scratches are noticeable. If I had to pick the color again, I would go with something else, but that's just me.

Option 1. Technically they're the same car but Option 1 will have better resale value. :) Plus the engine replaced on Option 2 kinda worried me, UNLESS the dealer give you MORE warranty than option 1.

I agree with everyone else for the same reasons. Option 1 plus the graphite shadow is a awesome color

Given the information, definitely the QX70S. It's newer and the price difference is negligible. Diesels are awesome, btw!

option 1 is a no brainer. I have malbec black and it picks up swirls very easily. the top coat is very soft and I think in Europe, Nissan/Infiniti still use scratch-shield top coat... very difficult to even correct.

otherwise the qx70d which is what I have (GT Multimedia) is an excellent car. I should post up some pictures so our friends stateside can see what the diesel is all about.

interestingly though, I had a problem with my engine at 650 miles - one of the crankseals failed and leaked oil. fortunately I didn't lose too much and infiniti repaired it under warranty... apparently it was in the last batch of qx70 diesels manufactured for 2014 - the engine itself is built in france and the workers must have had too much cheese and wine on the evening they built my engine.

other than that, they are excellent cars, and the diesel is an excellent engine option for the qx. 550nm of torquey goodness from low down! good luck.

Well, today a new option arrived and i couldn't resist: FX30d, S Premium, graphit shadow, 22.000 km, 03.2013, good shape + LED daylight , 37.000€. So in one week i will be an official Infiniti owner :-).
