FX died.

a tahoe????? dude, after owning an fx, even maybe the most unreliable fx out there, you still GOTTA know better than to get a tahoe!!!!, jk man, but having to drive a tahoe after driving the fx is just a very depressing thought to me

I don't know, my Tahoe finally had a real problem. The tranny was leaking and stuff after we drove across Texas. It's a 2000 with 95k miles.

reliabilty is not the depressing thought, it's the going from an suv that drives & handles like a sports car & is as stylish as the fx to an suv that is just a big ole suv looking thing & drives like a big ole suv that does it for me I guess

Yeah, the Tahoe is out of the question. Nothing wrong with Tahoes, the new ones are nice. Its just not something I want.

If I do end up having to buy another vehicle, as of now its probably a toss up between another 06-07 FX35 or an 07 MDX. Havent driven an MDX, but I think I would like it. I know for sure it won't drive like an FX though. Picking one over the other has some definite trade-offs.

Dropped her off at the dealer today. They are replacing the catalytic converter. So for now, I am in another loaner. This time, a silver G37 sedan. I've never had a silver loaner. I think I've had every other color but silver. For some reason, this one drives so much better than the previous G37 I had.

Regional manager called yesterday. "blah blah blah ... vehicle does not qualify for repurchase ... blah blah blah... infiniti is not in a position to provide replacement...but we will continue to honor the warranty" or some crap like that. I vented my frustration to her and explained to her that my car had gone BACK to Service again since I opened the file with her and it was STILL there, but she kept repeating herself. She sounded indifferent, like she really couldnt give a rats a** what the decision was. I asked her if this was her car if she would keep it or want it replaced and she said she could not answer what she would do or would not do.

So now I have started a file with the BBB Auto Line. If this fails, then I'll just have to take it up the rear and trade her in for whatever I can get.

Hey man,

I total felt your pain. I had so many problems with my FX as well and the worst is some of those problems happened after my warranty and Nissan Canada doesn't give any shit about it.

And I had been through all those BS from the dealership and the Nissan Canada. I ask them "Is the FX designed to be problematic and even failed right after 4 yr?" The response I got was "That's why there is a standard 4 yr warranty".

Starting with BBB is a very smart start. Once the things get into the BBB, they will normally offer free extended warranty or discount on your next purchase at infiniti.

Sometimes, I really want to just get rid of this car. But just after driving FX, I can't find other vehicle has similar performance and the look of it.

Most of the Infiniti dealership are really bad in customer service. I can't say all of them. At least all the infiniti dealership in Lower Mainland were cocky and doesn't give a shit.

I think that's why a lot people ending up going with Lexus other than Infiniti because of the customer services.

Let us know how it goes and hope you still stay on the IS. :.smile:

That sucks man, at least all of my issues happened under warranty. Sorry to hear about your problems. I take it Nissan Canada did nothing for you? Did you try any other routes to get your problems resolved?

I actually have no problems with my dealership. I didn't buy my car there, but I have taken it there for the past 2 years. They have always taken good care of me without puting up a fight. They are not perfect by any means, but I do feel as if they really are there to help me.

I do have a problem with the regional manager. The first time I talked to her, I felt like she was ready to hang up the phone before I could even explain to her what was going on. In a nutshell, the conversation went like "I see your file. i'll pull your service records only for the time you have owned the vehicle, and I'll let you know the decision in 2 weeks. ok?" Whatever, hopefully I'll have better luck with the BBB.

Thanks everyone for letting me vent and not telling me to shut up already. Its frustrating to have to pay for a car that I can't drive because its spending all its time at the dealer. yeah, I always get a loaner, but if I wanted to drive a G35, I would have bought one. I've had a loaner for over 60 days total now, and counting. Plus, its 230a and im still working!!! So i'm a little grumpy right now.

I should have gone for BBB but I forgot about that. My case was even worst. I bought the car brand new and have all services done at the dealership. My car has problem since day one. I had the struct bearing noise and the seat cracking noises within the first 3 months and the dealership even gave me attitude when I complained about the problems. The DTRL socket problem twice and a tranny fluid leak caused by the bad radiator. The car wasn't drivable. The dealership even refused to check the tranny if the tranny was damaged. Then starter problems and engine oil leak. And then axle problems, bubble driver seat, seat cracking noises and muffler hanger failure 1 week after the 4 year standard warranties just passed. All these shit were taken care poorly by the dealership in lower mainland. I learned my lesson. I will never buy any Infiniti which is the first batch of the new model line. Basically, I felt my car was the lab rat for the mechanics at the dealership to be familiar with the FX before the TSB came up.

Just my count, I personally spent close to 9K just to fixed the FX up since I have owned it. My car never has any serious damaged from any car accidents. Mostly just paint job and some small body work.

I had a small oil leak in one of the front the spark plug. I went to the dealership under the powertrain warranty. All I got from them was, "it is normal. The computer did not throw out any error codes. If it does during the warranty, then we will do something about it."

Now basically, I am just waiting my engine to miss fire and get a new engine out of my pocket, since I am already out of the warranty.

I would strongly recommend to take any means to get your issue propagated, so the infiniti will take your case seriously.

My dad's friend who bought an new Mercedez S500 few years back when the car came up and he kept having problems within the first 6 month of purchase. He simply just dropped the car at the dealership front door and tell the dealer to contact their headquarter to buy the car back and he left the car there and told the dealership in front of every other customer he's not going to drive that piece of shit.

He wrote about 20 ish emails to the Mercedez headquarter and eventually the headquarter bought the car back.

So any effort to get the Nissan headquarters's attention is worthy IMO.

So man, not too be too frustrated. You are still in better shape then I am.

Got the FX back today. dealer "found internal failure with three-way catalyst causing abnormal readings from rear O2 sensor. Replaced catalytic converter bank 2 to resolve."

got her on the highway and fell in love with the FX all over again. but then Stu had to burst my bubble and said "but for how long?" in response to my joy of getting her back.

I submitted my documentation to the BBB this morning. They responded and said that my car does not qualify for the lemon law, and that they were sorry they could not help. So now the question is.. another FX or MDX? I think I may be leaning towards another FX... IS stickers would just look silly on an Acura. lol.

It speaks volumes about both you and the FX that you would consider another one after going through this. I'm not sure I could do the same, but I hope your next car lasts 500,000 miles with ZERO problems. You've had your share, I think.

Lol thanks jumbo. Yeah, I think I've had my fair share of problems to last a while. I love the ride and look of the fx, and I just hope that's not making me blind.

Anyways, the MDX I want would be at least 4k more than another 06 FX. So I think I've stopped looking at MDXs because of price.
I went and looked at one though. Didn't test drive it, but it certainly felt a little more upscale than the 1st gen FXs.

Pman, I'm cool with the cop across the street, but I dunno how hed feel about that. Lol

WOW- thats alot of problems with a supposedly bullet-proof engine. Scares me since I just bought my 07. Any idea if the first owner had any problems-what was the service/warranty history with the first owner?

Anyway- hope your problems with the FX are behind you now.
