FX: Did You Know? (FX Facts)

Bump to keep all these little tidbits in one place...

I thought it would be cool to start a thread about features and facts about our 2nd gen 2009+ FX's. It could be anything like things you didn't know, but found out.

I have a few things on mind but will post one at a time.

Did you know that the around view camera's on our ride's are manufactured by Sony?

Here are some more things some people didn't know:

1. I couldn't figure out why it's so hard to get coins out of the coin holder. It's so damn small and you can't get your fingers in there. Boy did I think that was a horrible design. Turns out the coin holder can slide out of the the pocket to take the coins out lmao:

2. Each and all 4 door handles including the rear doors has LED amber mood lighting in them that stays lit up the whole time the car is on:

3. When it gets near the freezing point outside, an alert will come up on the cluster OLED screen to remind you that there could be potential ice patches on the road and to drive carefully:

4. There is also an alert to remind you the temperature is very low outside:

5. With the radio off, hold down the setting's button on the Infiniti controller and keep turning the volume knob while holding the settings button and a secret Navi/Car CAN control menu will come up. This section of the navi system has more serious settings that only your dealer uses if you need help with something.

You can adjust alot of things on this secret menu, but here are some typical things you can screw with:

You can adjust the camera individually:

Or you can adjust the entire around view monitor:

6. There are hidden comfort guide straps located in the left and right side of the rear seats in a hidden leather pocket:

7. There is also LED mood light near the top map light console. The purpose of this is to cast a dimming light over the shifter knob panel below at night time:

Not sure if this is a fact, but I came up with this on my own one day. Basically the FX is based on the Front Midship (FM) platform from Nissan along with the M, Z, G, etc. I came to the conclusion that the name FX came from FM plus crossover, thus F and X, or FX.

Nice theory. I think the designation comes from two things. The X is for basically their sport utility line, i.e. QX56, QX4, EX. And they probably decided that F sounded the best or made the most sense at the time. Not many other letters left that would fit into their nomenclature that actually sound good. SX35, TX35, IX35 dont roll off the tongue as nicely as FX.

1Gen FX warned you when the Key fob battery is dying by flashing a green(if the battery is really about to die It'll flash 3 times in Red) key sign on the dashboard. Just happenned to me so u replaced it with a 2025 circular flat battery.

That's on my list of things to do. Is it as simple as a battery swap, or is there any kind of programing required?

Simple swap, pop your key fob open and replace the old battery with a flat battery model #2025..

Pop it In place just make sure the only side you move around is the battery's side. If you move the other side key fob components will fall out.

I just found out the other day that if you hold down the "Seek" button on the steering wheel when listening to CDs, it changes to the next (or previous) CD depending on which way you hold the button. I can't believe I just now found that out after owning an FX for over 4 years.

Offically placed order for borla exhaust for my FX50S. now the 3-4 week wait.

lol, how is this relevant? :confused.:

You still listen to CDs? :eek.:

I should probably add a fact: '07 and '08s have power folding mirrors, not sure about 35s.

Unfortunately yes. I cancelled my sirius subscription a little while back so then I had to make a few MP3 discs to listen to when I needed a break from the radio stations. And dude, let me tell ya, I felt like an old man making those discs!

04 fx35 non-Tech DOES NOT play mp3 discs.. it does not acknowledge the disk.. im sure this is true for 03-05 fx's (i assume) before they got the color screen and updated dash?,.

1st gen fx AWD's run awd from 1-19mph, then just run RWD until it detects slip.. or run full-time all wheel drive when the SNOW button is on... i read it somewhere on here but feel like it should be contributed to this thread too lol :smug:

If you have the tech package with the DVD player, and hear hissing in your cabin while completely quiet, there is a possibility that the wireless headphones turned on while driving.

This is only if you have them in the storage compartment below the arm rests. If the hissing went away after time, the batteries in the headphones ran out of juice.

all years (I think)/FX-on the fob, pressed the unlock button and keep it pressed for 7 seconds... all the windows rolled down

That is sweet. I didn't know this. Still finding sometthing weekly I didn't know the FX had or could do. Love'n the surprises.
