FX confused for other makes?

Is it just me or do some of you guys(especially the badgeless guys) have others confuse your car for other brands? In the past 2 weeks or so since I put the badgeless grill on I had 1 person comment on how nice of a Nissan I drive and another tell me that how similar his Ford Edge looks to my Mazda! One of the biggest draws to me was how different the FX was from all the other SUVs in styling........people amaze me

Those people just don't know cars. There is nothing on the road that I've ever confused with an FX.

I've gotten Mazda CX-7 before. It was as I was driving up to these girls, and they thought it was my friend at first.

My FX always gets confused at work for a Mazda.

I gotten Nissan Murano, Buick, and Lexus already in the past year. I sh*t in my pants when someone thought it was a buick.

I was at the mall a few months back and a guy and lady walked by my FX in the parking lot and said, "Oh hey look babe it's the new Cayenne".

My neighbor also asked me a few months ago when I was outside washing it if the FX was an RX350. They don't even look alike wtf?? My FX is no grandpa car:mad.::mad.:

Ah this sucks. I can recognize an FX from a mile away :) I just got a brand new fx35 today and I already got people staring at the car as I'm driving around the neighborhood. Let's see what they'll come up with..

One guy asked me if my FX was a Volvo, I didn't have my front bumper on though:)

Just remember guys everyone else copied the 2003 nissan/infiniti murano and FX design. everytime a look at one of the other brands you can clearly see the styling of the murano and fx. the best part for us is they can't get it right. they all look like knock offs of the originals.

One thing I hate is when people tell me that my FX is just a more luxurious Murano with the same engine...sure they have a smiliar chassis and engine displacement but the FX has more horsepower, is 10x more sporty looking IMO, and it has a RWD platform as opposed to the Murano's FWD platform....

Anyone else get this reaction from others?

Infiniti started a whole new page design style with the FX, others have tried to follow suite with little success. Anyone who mistakes an FX for anything else is really daft on car design, my mom knows the difference.

My friend and I agree that before I had rails, my FX looked similar to a Mercedes R-class.
But now that I'm familiar with Infiniti, I can tell an Infiniti is down the road just by the sound.

Um.....it's completely different platform! FX is based on the 370Z platform.

Murano and FX are not the same thing. The Murano still uses the old VQ35DE engine where as the FX uses the newer VQ35HR motor. The Murano also uses a shitty CVT transmission(no gears) where as the 2nd gen FX uses a 7 speed Jatco automatic transmission. Also the Murano is built on the FF-L platform and the FX is built on the FM platform. The FX also has a totally different suspension using a double wishbone front and multilink read and the Murano is a Mcpherson strut setup. FX also has better quality materials and more sound deadening. The list just keeps going on and on. People who say those things are ignorant when it comes to cars.

No off the wall comments for me... But I do get quite a bit of double takes after the badgeeless grille and gtrs. One poor fella almost walked into the lighting post at the mall while staring at the wheels....

I recently got the Murano comment from a family member. I blew it off as I don't see a need to explain it. They can drive to the car lot for some distinction if they like. I am the odd person out driving an Infiniti. As far as telling the difference, my 6-year old son is quite good at telling the difference as we drive around. He tends to spot them quicker than I do.

Those wheels do look good. I'm almost thinking of looking for a set of GTRs and sell my Enkei GTC 01s

I was amazed how good GTR wheels look like in person. I think much better than pics really show.
