Hey, if i was running a JL 1000/1 sub amp and HD600.4 speaker amp, would the fx45 stock alt and a brand new battery handle it without risk of damage?:ehh:

For European users
I've put 63Ah 610A - almost fit :) 0,5 cm wider and much lower than OEM.
The same parameters ( and size as well) has Bosch Silver.

So I keep seeing in this forum that Group 35 is the correct battery, but when I look in the battery catalogs at various stores, it tells me that Group 35 is right w/out Intelligent Key and 24F with intelligent key. I have absolutely no idea what the intelligent key could possibly have to do with battery size. I have an '07 with intelligent key and I'm just curious which one I should buy. I like the fact that the 24F has significantly more CCA than the 35 at both Costco and Sam's (mid 500's vs low 700's at both stores). Any thoughts?

I believe the "Inteligent Key" system is constantly in the "receive" mode waiting for a RF signal from the key FOB itself, like a cell phone in the on mode but not making or receiving a phone call. Both my 09 FX50S and my sons 09 G37 with inteligent key systems have had our car batterys go bad. The dealer replaced both batteries under warranty and after asking the dealer why the batteries failed so soon they said the inteligent key systems is constantly using current from the main car battery 24/7 and therefore the larger CCA and reserve amp-hrs size batteries are required. It would be interesting to see what the current draw is by connecting a amp meter between one of the battery terminals and the cable (disconnected from the battery) with the ignition off and all accessories off (doors closed, no radio on, no parking lights, etc.) Has anyone out there tried this test?
