Hi y'all...
Confusion all over...
FX35 AWD, '08. The manual says: "Fuel tank capacity 23,8 gals (90 litres)". However... Mine is just 15,9 gals (60 litres)...
Nobody knows, called Infiniti NL, but they don't have a clue.
Anyone familiar with this? Is this a typical thing to do when imported into Europe?
Fuel gauge reads pretty much OK, like the calculated fuel economy (range approx. 370 miles, DTE seems OK).

Really :question::dont-know::struggle::thinking::confused:

Wow.... Didn't think of that! I know there was a software patch for faulty gauges, but this is quite an operation...
Thanks, i'll have a look @ it ASAP.

Hmmmm... What am i missing? I did the excellent DIY from above, but..... no result (yet?). Cleaned it all , looks like new again. Filled her up, but no change in gauge display and DTE. Is the something else to be done? :bulgy-eyes: Confused again....

How are you getting the figure for 15.9 gallons? Are you just filling up the tank once you see the gas light on? There will always be a reserve in the tank once the light comes on. Usually about four gallons or so.

The only way to tell the real capacity is to physically empty the tank and then fill it while bone dry.

Drive until the light goes on, and a little further until the gauge reads dead empty... Very coincidental i could fill upwith 58,7 liters (15,2 gals). That was a simpel math... But a 8 gallons (30 liters) difference is far too much.

I would physically open up the tank cover under the rear seat to check the level by in the tank when the gauge is showing empty. Fill it up and check it again. You will know for sure if the gauge or there is an issue with the pipe/neck of the tank. I seem to remember there was a TSB on issue with tank not fully filled because of a some sort of flapper in the pipe/neck of the tank.

Thanks, noted. But i opened it up yesterday at full, and yes, it was really full. So i doubt that is an issue. Coming weekend i'll repeat the procedure, and with my current knowledge on this issue (Thanks, y'all!!) i will check all possibilities.
Keep you posted....

Don't twist the rubber hose, make sure its routed correctly. I twisted mine and the fuel gauge needle stuck at 1/4 when the tank was empty.

OK, redid it all over again. Looking good now, about 25% left in the tank after 310 miles. Gauge was on last line before empty, dte shows 140 miles left.
Rebuild it all (special attention for the black hose tot the left tank), filled up again. The needle went up tot 3/4.... Decided to take her for a rough ride, with some bumps, roundabouts and holes. Et voila, needle went over the full mark. Only dte stays behind, now showing around 380 miles to go. Last trip avaraged 20 mpg, so it should be near to 480 miles.
But there is progress...

I just got a 04 fx35 and had the same problem with the Fuel gauge. I was about to do the DIY but the fuel gauge started reading right after I started putting sunoco ultra 93 octane. After a couple Fill ups my gas gauge reads correctly now. Don't know if it'll work for anybody else but it seems to be working for me for the time being.
