So I noticed she cranked over slowly this morning (-13*C in Canada) warmed it up and drove off fine, used the wiper fluid and noticed the front and rear wipers where sluggish, the windows where abnormally slow too.

Getting on the hwy the car got up to speed with ease (V8 with invidia cat back under a bridge is enough to cream your jeans any day!) hit cruise at 110km/h and drove np...

Got to a light and noticed the RPM jumped up slightly (200-300rpm) when I went to accelerate it was sluggish, very slowly got up to speed (3rd into 4th gear ~60km/h took a bit) and when pulling into work noticed the brakes where firm and ability to slow was reduced... turned off the car and starting was very weak, it barley turned over. Took it for a cruise around the court and back to my spot, turned it off and she wouldn’t start again...

I replaced the alternator 2-3 years ago with a friggin reman from part source... new battery and new spark plugs last year... going to pin everything out tonight and will update With my findings... just wondering if anyone has any suggestions - thanks in advance for listening to my problems hahaha if anyone’s interested I’ll post a video of the 45 ripping once I have her running ;)

Interesting problem. It's sounds like a drained battery to me. Are the interior light lit up bright?

Hey la_fx35

Yeah interior is well lit, but The battery did drain from me driving slightly, I managed to jump start it at home this evening, took the cables off and the battery read 12.09v so I think it’s an alternator... gonna yank this one out and get it tested

Interesting though, I ran a obd and it thru two codes (twice over) P1614 and P1610 which are immobilizer codes... I tried the valet key but wouldn’t start till I cleared the code

So at the end of the day, it was the alternator... ~3yr old champion reman to be exact - went with Hitachi (oem for the fx45 and it’s Mitsubishi for the fx35 just an fyi)

Unfortunately I had to do a lock to lock and exchange my atf pw steering fluid, must have gotten air while dry steering. But I’m glad this one came up... my pump and thus steering is A1 now.

A couple tips I found while doing the alternator swap that wasn’t in the service manual:

- remove the wire harness (it’s a single bolt and frees up the harness with less stress on the cable).
- use bungee cords to suspend the “new” alternator.. hook onto the hood latch with one end and the alternator mounting hole with the other end... helps to hold the alternator in place when you’re re-attaching the plug/ground terminals.
