Fuel Economy

hmm how many miles you got on the FX? i would start off serving the vehicle, cleaning throttle body, changing spark plugs, oil change, changing air filter every 15k miles. Other than that if you ride it hard you will see those numbers. Try to reset it at the pump and see if anything changes

That makes no sense. Even if you ride it hard and haven't serviced it that would be a hard number to get. I get 18.5-19mpg mixed in my 04 fx35. You may want to run a scanning tool to see if there are any codes in the system.

I drive a 2004 v6 awd fx35, I am getting 7.5 mpg, this is not good, WHAT COULD IT BE.

While I was in NY, NYC driving only gets me 10 - 12.5mpg. If I go for long trips, the advertised mpg for the FX would do it justice. 7.5 is on the low side. I would follow Dracula's advise. Check for any aftermarket parts also installed on your ride. Some aftermarket bolt ins ups certain performance areas and kills the mpg.

OP, how are you checking the figures? Is this based on a calculation you do after each fill up and a trip computer reset? Or is this just off of the built in mpg estimate from the in dash screen?

I use the aCar app on my android and that matches pretty well with the computer mpg. I get an average of 14-15mpg but I live like 15 minutes from work. a lot of hills etc. I've gotten in the mid 20's when i'm doing just highway. I usually get average mph in low 30's on the trip meter screen.

My 2012 FX with 13k miles gets about 15 to 18 mpg in City driving and 20 to 24 mpg in Highway.
