Frustrated at lack of aftermarket / mod-ability

2010 FX35
I've been itching to do something to my 2010 FX35 to improve the driving characteristics / performance or even aesthetics. I've been skimming forums, ancient threads, and performance websites to see if anyone else has discovered any cool OEM interchange-ability/upgrade parts or even DIY forced induction how-to's. Short of overpriced intake and exhaust systems that produce negligible gains even when tuned, I'm coming up totally dry. Am I missing something?

I was hoping the used market (or aftermarket) might have somewhat economical options. I've investigated the following :
- OEM black painted trim pieces to replace chrome : hideously expensive or simply NOT available
- replacement front bumper covers & grilles : hideously expensive or NOT available
- polyurethane bushings : not on any websites I've checked
- strut bar : not on any websites I've checked
- QX70S wheels: couldn't find any
- Turbos / super charger kits : nothing!!
-Mild suspension mods : I could barely even find OEM replacement parts. Plus the ride is already quite stiff.

The car could use a refresh but the value achieved per dollar invested seems very low with this model. I envisioned throwing a few hundred dollars at it at a time and refining it while restoring it, maybe even falling in love with it and going crazier. However my lack of findings are telling me it would be a lost cause. Someone show me the friggin' options!! Show me the low hanging fruit!!

I just bought some 22" Asanti black wheels 22 x 9 (F) and 22 x 10.5 (R) from audiocity. That is an option for wheels. I agree though; options for these vehicles are very limited. Trying to find a strut tower bar now.

Thanks- looks like there are actually strut bar options per the gentlemen’s post following yours. I’m surprised this info isn’t stickied somewhere.

I actually went on a hunt for wheels and ended up getting some 20” OEM wheels locally that I ultimately hated due to the weight and the design. Plus it didn’t fix the offset issue. I struggled to find any other aftermarket wheels 19-20” that I liked and didn’t cost and arm and a leg. I really like some of the later QX OEM wheels but they are very rare and therefore very expensive.

Agree with the offset issue. I didn't want to use spacers, so I chose aftermarket wheels and the 22's made sense with more tire options.

Ending up getting and installing the Cusco Strut Tower Brace. Fairly straightforward install although I had to slightly reposition left brake line and wires on the right. Dont expect much of a change, but I will be closely monitoring when I drive the vehicle again.

Hey Chillin...i wish you well in your search for performance. This site has been very helpful for me. Make sure that you check some of the older threads. There may be info in those. Also, you have the advantage of having the fx35. The VQ has a ton aftermarket performance parts. I imagine that so.eone on this site has adapred them to work with the fx35 platform. Good luck in your journey.
