Front window tint % to match rear

Hey guys, I did a quick search but could not find a % rating for the rear windows. I want to get the front two windows tinted but don't want to go to dark and end up having different shade windows. What % combo do I need to go with to match the windows all around. Like if I do 20% on the front windows, it will be darker than the rear, so what percent should I have done on the rear that would match the 20% darkness on the front? Perhaps it's a better question answered by the tint shop, but I figured I would ask you guys first to see what you have done.

I dont remember exactly, but I did either 15% or 20% Llumar tint on my fronts and the match is very close. Looks really good viewing from the outside. However, from the inside, the front has a charcoal color which I like and the factory tint has a slight purple tint that is noticable. Not a horrible thing, but I may redo the rears with 5% just to make it all match.

factory tint is 20% . i did my 2 front windows 20% n they r identical to the factory back windows tint .the tint shop told me factory is 20%

Hi Rhythmn, you can actually combo with your tints. I got my car tinted 35% front and back and 30% on the door windows and I'm really impressed with the results. I asked help from www.TintBuyer.com. They provided free relevant information on tints such as its types, quotations, laws involved in every state and most importantly they help me locate the best window tinters near my area. I hope this one helps :glasses:

Thanks for the info dig.

Does anyone know of a brand that will match the color tone/hue from the inside looking out? I got my front windows done about a week ago (did a shade lighter then the rears because I don’t want to get pulled over) and from the outside I like the look/blend. However, from the inside looking out, my front windows look smoke/bronze/yellowish and the backs are more towards a purple or blue tone. Funny the backs are darker but they seem clearer looking out. Anyone have an answer to this problem other then remove your front tints or remove the back tins and use the same as the fronts? The brand I used was Llumar.

Remember the color of ypur interior affects how your tints look.

I have the tan color interior and the factory tint looks light. I put 35% over there rear and i put 5% in the front to match. 20% tints on a bright interior looks too light.

^^Yup. I had a Toyota once with a beige interior and the rear factory tinted glass hardly was noticeable. I ended up tinting all of the windows to make it darker. Of course it was just a bit darker than I had anticipated. With the FX, my interior is black and the factory tint always looks really dark.

I used 20% on the front to match the back. Looks good.

Sorry, how does the color tone look from the inside. front vs rear? I'm not talking about the light/dark shade, but the hue.

Pretty sure the rear is not Tint. That's the actual glass, so it's not possible to remove the rear tint.

Yeah, I went back to the tint shop and that's what he told me. He said he's hard to match the color tone/hue on Japanese cars/suvs and that it was easier to match domestic factory tint.

If I put the same brand tint over the factory tints, you think it will solve the color hue difference? Gets annoying looking out the front windows and its smoke/greenish and then look to the back and it's purple/blueish. I have the tan interior.

You too re-tinted your rear windows that already came tinted?

That's what i did. Had the tint guys do all 4 widows with the same brand tint. Make sure the guys that do your tint use quality tint. I seen tint where it fades to the purple and blueish color. Look for brands for ex. (3m, gilda) I didn't have them do the hatch.

The rear i beleive are 20%.

I had previous cars with tan interior. I did 35, 20, and 15%'s. Finally 5% worked for me.

On a good sunny day you can still see in my fx. At night forget it lol. People have a staring contest with me trying to see who's inside.

my tint guy said the closest shade to factory is about 20% but didn't want to go that dark for the front windows so i ended up getting 35%. it works fine for my color combo. Berrylium with black interior.

The brand he used was Llumar. I might give the same brand tint used on the fronts over the factory glass tint a try or just keep what I have now for a year and just go back with no tints in the front haha. Oh well, I lose $60 bucks plus how much they charge to remove the fronts unless I do it myself. You didn’t do the hatch because?

i did 20% on every window on the side and 5% on the back. since i have a reverse camera and side mirrors there is no reason to go lighter. love the privacy. my tint looks like 5% on the rear passenger doors since it is tinted over the factory glass, but you can see out clearly. i got tired of the purple faded tint, ahd it stripped and retinted. WORTH IT! so much in fact, that i had my sister and mother's cars tinted for their birthdays. they are enjoying 20% all around with no complaints.
