I am being relocated along with a promotion next summer with my company at their HQ located in Arlington.
We are Canadians coming in under the L1 dual intent visa, meaning we can apply for a green card after one year.
Cultural shock it was for sure, it was brutally hot but they said it gets hotter LOL and it is not that bad compared to Houston with humidity levels through the roof!
Everything is truly bigger in Texas hey? I was shocked to see so many Trucks literally all over the place no civics, Golfs...but rather Denali, Escalades and Taho XL!!! Gosh even our FX is considered a "cute" little SUV
You have drive long distances to get anywhere and everywhere you want to go. It was like a bunch of residential "islands"with small malls I will be missing walking downtown grabbing an ice cream, window shopping, eat at a bistro lol we live in the suburbs on the island of Montreal but with a car a 10 min commute gets you literally anywhere the city it is just so much smaller than Texas lol
People in Texas are extremely welcoming friendly and respectful... the opposite of people from the North like Boston and NY
We visited Dallas downtown, Dallas zoo, North Park, Reunion tower, Fort Worth and Stockyard was amazing!!!
Wifey was really scared in Arlington especially since we have a 7 years old daughter it is NOT a place we can see ourselves living in sorry very commercial, industrial and college kids... Nothing to do really just flat and boring
We visited however Grapevine, Euless, Bedford Arlington, Colleyville And finally decided the place where we shall live in Keller (new development hilltop heritage) close to hwy35...Keller offers amazing schools ISD and we really liked Southlake which is way out of our price point LOL
This will be her car I will have a company car
Registration it is and I would not mind having to drill front screws so be it big deal!
It is a 2012 with 16,000 miles in MINT condition I fully detailed it this summer and protected with ceramic coating
Thank you all
