K, bloody choked.
i gotta give a quick lead up as to what makes this esp. shitty:

Went to whistler yesterday, boarded all day, legs/feet spent, my gf booked foot massage appts for us (its awesome, seriously, i was kinda wierded out when she suggested it a few months back, but man, feels great). Went out there today after lunch, park the FX (richmond, #3 rd) and bout to go in.......Sunroof doesn't close all the way!!
wtf... i'm trippin, try pushin the switch repeatedly, ignition on/off, acc. Everything, and the roof just wouldn't close. To make things worse, clouds rolling in, looks like rain coming soon. It would roll all the way back, then when i press close, it would got for about 3 inches and stop. Nothing blocking the tracks, clean, no issues earlier in the day when i used the roof.
Anyhow, gals inside getting her massage while i'm outside in the parking lot, sticking my head thru the roof looking for anything, climbing on the outside and trying to pull it closed. Man. people must've thought i was breaking in or messing w/ the car. I felt like an idiot. So then it starts raining....hard. Call gf, tell her we gotta go, rip it back to vancouver (bout a 20 min drive from Richmond), in the rain, park it in the garage and tape it up w/ garbage bag. I got wet, as did the leather.

Gonna take to a local infiniti in the the am, Luckily i bought the bumper/bumper used car warranty (nissan dealership). I've got 88xxx k's (54xxx miles).

Anyone had this issue? So random, worst luck, I'm pissed.

Keep ya'll posted after i take it in.
Btw, this site rocks, i don't post much...yet....but appreciate all the know-how here...

Cheers,
jigger

i checked the weathernetwork and it will rain for the next 14 days.
crazy huh?
hope you get it fixed well=)

Try the sunroof reset first to see if it helps:

If the sunroof does not close or open automatically, use the following procedure to return sunroof operation to
normal.
1. Close the sunroof if it is not in the closed position. It may be necessary to repeatedly push the switch to
close the sunroof.
2. Press and hold the TILT UP switch. Do not release the switch, keep pressure on it. After 10 seconds of
depressing, the sunroof will tilt up, then tilt down. Release the button.
3. Press and hold the TILT UP switch again. Do not release the switch, keep pressure on it. While depressing
the switch, the sunroof will “Slide open” “Slide close” “Tilt up” “Tilt down”. Release the button after the
sunroof “Tilts down” and stops.
4. Initializing procedure is complete. Confirm proper operation of the sunroof (slide open, slide close, tilt up,
tilt down.)

bummer for you, but great read! good to have peeps like you on the board :iS:

I am not sure we have this, but a previous car of mine with a sunroof had a mechanism where you could manually close and open the sunroof with a screwdriver. I think it would be near where the sunglasses holder is, and it was under a plastic cover. Did you read in the manual? It's too late now, unless you just want to close it before taking it to the dealer if needed.

Hey folks, thanks for the replies, meant to give y'all an update the other day, but been busy w/ new job.

Anyhow, took it in to Inifiniti next day and Aiya was right, they had to do a "reset", as they said this needs to be done after batt is replaced. Funny thing is, I bought the fx Dec 30, and it functioned fine since i got it. I guess the batt was replaced a while ago and the prob just happened. Either way they couldn't explain it either, wierd.
As for the manual close, i could not locate a screwhole, maybe behind/under the sunroof holder but wasn't necessary, this time. BTW a few other items came up, will post them in the appropriate sections later tonite/tomm (involves oil leakage) Grrrr.

Thanks again team.

ps. GTO, ur welcome for the read, i can be a bit of a "storyteller", my gf hates it, says i ramble like a mofo, haha. I just think its nice to paint a picture if u will.

jigjag - do you know what the dealership did to reset the sunroof? i've read on some other sites that it involves disconnecting the car battery.

i had this issue with my maxima. i jut took abart the switch assembly and put it back together. worked ever since. not sure what was wrong.
