Found a huge exhaust leak today. Patched it.

I bought this 45 two weeks ago and thought the exhaust note was factory.

Crawling around under the rear I found a massive exhaust leak right before the muffler.

Looked as if someone cut the flanges and welded a cheap coupler from the pipe to the muffler. Garbage work.

So I patched the gaps today with FiberFix Pro. Worked like a champ.

Now the 45 is very quiet and power seems reduced.

I liked it better with the gigantic leak. :D

haha I was going to ask weather it sounded better before or after the fix. Seen some FX45 owners go straight pipes and delete cats. Glorious sounding.

The patch sealed up the massive leak perfectly so now I have a lot of back pressure and this affects power and acceleration so I decided to relieve some the pressure by drilling two holes in the main pipe. One hole a few inches before the patch and one at the hard bend at the muffler input.

This didn't seem to affect tonality or volume but definitely returned the exhaust flow to pre-patch performance. No more lag.

I wonder if a muffler can become more resistant to flow as it ages?

I'd love to install a nice cat-back setup with Flowmasters.
