For those who have installed g37/370z muffler...

I'm looking at getting the g37s Infiniti Sports Accessory muffler for my 2013 FX37. For those who have used a g35/37 or 350/370z muffler, is it possible to make the tips fit by adding length to the front of the muffler (where the flange connects w/ the downpipes), or will the hangers not be aligned? I remember seeing a picture of someone who did this, but can't find it again and confirm if it was for a FX35/37.

Thinking about extending it at the flange so it looks a little cleaner vs cutting off the tips and extending it.

Most extend it at the Tip pipe area otherwise you have to do more work with hanger etc IIRC

Thanks man, I took a look under my car and saw there probably won't be much room to reuse the stock hanger locations if I extended at the flange. Looks like I'll be extending at the tips.

those who are using the g37 muffler.. do you guys notice any difference in sound? does it sound exactly like the 1st gen?

you need to get the IPL G37 muffler for it to make a real difference and even then it isn't much. Cheaper to just take out resonator or do muffler delete (too much drone), or just find a used one and make it fit.

I lucked out and got a new IPL exhaust from a G47 with 14 miles on it since the owner opted to install a Stillen exhaust. All I had to modify was the tips since it needed to be extended. It did make an audible experience. A little more throatier and sporty. As for any hp increase it didn't do anything.

Is the 370z nismo muffler louder than the g37s/IPL muffler? What year 370z can we use the muffler from?

I wish I can hear the difference in person to see if it's actually worth it. Anyone in Philadelphia area that has a G37 muffler want to meet up for a sound comparison? We could make a youtube clip =)

A few quick YouTube videos of each....

G37 Coupe Muffler

G37 is a little deeper & more "raspy" under throttle...

There is a difference indeed, however is not much.
Now if extending the pipes at the tips is the only thing required in order for the muffler to fit on the FX, then the same could be said for an aftermarket muffler for a G37, if said aftermarket muffler uses the same pipe layout to connect to the stock mid pipe.
