I regretfully removed the resonators on my 03 hoping to someday pick up a reasonable Nismo exhaust. I have seen some videos of the flowmaster 80's on FX35's and some sound better than others.

What are your thoughts/opinions/experiences? I know off the bat I love the price vs. the Nismo for sure....

I went to the exhaust shop and they quoted me $273 parts and labor and thats with new tips witrh the 80 series. that is an awsome deal. I do know this from reading other forums. It does NOT give any HP gains, but for some people it dont really matter. maybe someone who ha the exhaust will chime in. Im curious aswell

Flowmaster is a nice deep sound. I get some droning though cruising at 75-80mph but im a youngster so dont really mind it... for now.

No power gains really. Just sound, and angry looks from neighbors.

As for pricing... i got the muffler onsale for $50 (amazon). Reused the originally tips and most of the piping from the OEM exhaust. So my total cost for labor was around $140. If i could do it again however, i would have kept the oem muffler in tact and had them use all brand new welding. This however would bring up the labor cost substantially.

Oh, and here are two quick clips :-). Honestly its hard to capture what it sounds like in real life with these clips. I know tchuck has much better sound equipment and also experience in that field so maybe he can post his HQ ones.

Thats funny, we watched some of your vids last night on you tube! Sounds really good. I'm not as worried as HP gain, I just like the deeper exhaust note. Thanks for the insight/info.

Here's my most recent attempt at a proper recording. The video is pretty self explanatory but for the sake of clarity, the audio is coming from the stereo recorder that you can see me place on the ground behind the FX. Recording the exhaust at two distances is the only way I have been able to capture the tone and the volume range without clipping my recorder and/or adding limits or compression. I am a ridiculous amateur at the video editing game (this clip was made in Soundbooth...) so forgive the lack of professionalism. The only reason there is video at all is to illustrate the positioning of the recorder. On the studio monitors in my basement, this is the most accurate "FX Flowmaster" recording I've heard.

^Here's my best attempt to date.

When i had my Flowmaster 80 series installed on my car ... i felt like a lost a large amount of power on the low rpm range, and gained nothing on the higher rpm:eek.: ... i have no idea how everyone is have no issues with there mufflers ...maybe its bcuz i am still yet to have my ECU tuned :/ .. i asked my mechanic and he told me that there was no "back pressure" which resulted in the low rpm loss ...

The others modds with the car at the time were : Stillen headers, inatke, pulley's, and 1/2" plenium ....i soon got rid of the muffler and bought an HKS exhaust , works much better now :)
