FK Ethos RT-7M

After doing a little more research up here I see many people running the RT-7M wheels and they look great. I am going to go this route, however there are four options I can go with regarding width and offset:

20x8.5 - 15mm or 35mm offset

20x10 - 10mm or 40mm offset

Which wheel is the best size for fitment, and what tire size do you suggest?

thanks!

20x10 would be best for looks. however the +10mm will stick out "too much" - so I would go with the 40mm offset and get 20mm spacers for the rear
Run 20x10 all around. 8.5 is just too slim for an FX IMO, plus AWD its good to stick as close as you can Front to back anyway.

I think as for tires you could run 285 or 295/45/20 and it will be nice and aggressive. If you want an idea of how the wheels would sit, check out R35 GTR wheels on a 2nd gen FX. the rears on those are 20x10.5 +25 offset, so these will sit similarly in the back -almost flush - (if you get 40mmm offset + 20mm spacer)

although now that I think of it, the .5 width difference may mean you should get a bigger spacer (25mm?) to sit flush....

Good Luck!

10" +20 is going to be very close to 10.5" +25. 1/2" is 12.5mm so half that is 6.25mm. So the GTR wheel will be equivalent of 10" and +18.75mm offset.

Thank you for the responses, very helpful! So basically the best wheel to look for is 20x10 with as close to a +20mm offset as possible?

For the rear yes, but the front may stick out a tiny bit with that offset. If you don't lower, you'll be fine.

I don't think the front will stick out, I think it may be dead flush with the top of the fender. 10mm will be a little too aggressive and will likely stick out a bit. If you do lower it, however, it may end up being perfectly flush (however you may need to trim a bit of the plastic on the fender if it rubs - I had to do this on my old FX with the GTR wheels in the rear after lowered on eibach springs)

I went ahead and ordered the 20x10 +40mm offset this morning. So I should only buy two spacers right? I am not planning on lowering.

I went with 295/45 Hankook Ventus ST RH-06 tires, got a pretty decent deal from Discount Tire Direct on the package. I need to figure out a TPMS solution next.

Thanks again.

Spacers are sold in pairs, so you'd need 2 pairs. Front may be ok at +40, won't look too sunken, but you can always mount them and see if you like the look before getting spacers. Can you just swap the TPMS from OEM wheels to new wheels?

I can swap, I just wasnt sure if TPMS technology has gotten cheaper recently to where I could buy new ones for around $100 for all four.

You can, just look on eBay. If you have the part number, you can buy brand new aftermarket replacements for $100 or so.

Thanks for the advice, I believe the part number is 407001LA0D. You can find them online pretty cheap, there are some on Ebay for $72.50, I cant post a link yet but they are easily found.

I received a call from Discount Tire Direct, and they are concerned with rubbing issues on my order. You guys are pretty sure I should be ok with 20x10 +40mm and a 295/45 tire?

Their customer service is awesome, they mentioned I could receive the shipment, test fit and it if doesnt work I could sent back for a different size tire.

yes you will be fine, people run the GTR wheels which are similar specs (20x10.5 +45) with no issues unless they try and slam it.

I run 295/45R20 tires with 20x10.5 (+25 offset) wheels in the back dropped on H&R's and i don't rub even with 4 passengers and the trunk fully loaded. So no problem with those.:good:

Thanks for the responses, I am assuming the 10.5 inch wheels are only in the back, not the front correct? Their concern was with the front tires rubbing when turning.

Shouldn't rub at stock height. If you're slammed, you could rub on the fender while turning, but that doesn't happen at stock height. I'm running 20x10.5" +20 up front right now but with 275 tires and it's not even close even though I'm slammed. I'm actually going to +10 to get it out more and go a little lower. At stock height, or even spring drop, you can run almost anything you want and not rub. People run 285/40/22 which is taller than what you want to run on similar offsets and it doesn't rub.

Tire shops are very conservative in their estimates. I had to sign off acknowledgement that I knew the wheels may stick out from my fender and so on. They don't, but I still had to sign off that it might.

Rims look great, and no problems with fitment at all! The rim/tire combo is heavier than the stock 18's, however I did not see much of a change in gas mileage. Obviously, that is good news!
