Hey, I already commented on the ride, love it. I also like the thread title "Finally got rid of her" Could easily be a thread I would have started about an old girlfriend.
In no particular order, replaced knock sensor, replaced A/C compressor, replaced fuel pump (which left my wife stranded on the highway), replaced catalytic converter. And oh yeah, replaced long block twice.
Heh, what can I say? I still love the FX, and I do think that one was cursed. I mean, come on! What car these days haves that many problems within 70k miles?
The copper one has had one problem in the past year which I had to get it towed to the dealer. I'm still crossing my fingers that it treats me better than the black one. Hit 64k miles today, seems to be ok.
hi congratulations on new fx! I am a new owner and noticed your post that you had problems with your previous FX. I just bought a 2006 fx35 (sport, tech packages). Can you brief me on the issues you had on your 2006 fx or any issues you heard of regarding 2006 fx? Thank you!
hehe sure, see post #27. They are all pretty self explanatory. The long block was replaced the first time at 45k miles due to a knock at idle and again at 65k miles due to a low rpm knock. Or it could be a low rpm knock and then a knock at idle, I'm not sure anymore.
The problems I had don't appear to be typical. Most people here don't really have many problems, or at least that how it seems anyways. I've had the copper one for almost a year now, and its really only had 1 problem where a couple of the coil packs shorted out.
However, its at the dealer now for a transmission fluid service and rear differential service and I also asked that they check out... ahem... a knocking sound at idle. My service advisor called and said that all the requested service was done and that my car was ready. As for the "knock", they compared the sound I was describing to another FX that was there and they both had the same sound, except mine was a little louder. So he's going to call in to the Infiniti tech line to see what they say.
This noise was always "kinda there" but became alot louder yesterday night after I changed my oil. I did use a different oil filter (Bosch) as well as different oil (Pennsoil) so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Before this, I have only used Valvoline with a Mobil1 filter. Guess we'll just have to see where this goes. I still have my fingers crossed!
