Fast Idle when started

My engine, 09 FX35 6cyl, revs to about 15,000 RPM for 15 seconds after a cold engine start. If right after start I put in gear it drops to normal, 6,500, immediately. If I wait, the engine stays at 15,000 for 5 seconds then starts to slow and after 6 or 7 more seconds slowly drops to normal. Is this normal? 80,000 miles-but it's always done this.

If you mean 1,500-2,000 rpm at cold start then yes this is normal
