Fading trim TSB

i guess it varies from dealer to dealer if they have the trims in stock. i shouldve checked all the infiniti dealers in my area. mine went to backorder and have to do a few visits until everything was replaced. according to the dealer, the trim they ordered came with one warped piece so they have to order another one. took awhile, but they eventually replaced all of them.

just out of curiosity, which Infiniti dealership did you go to?

I did take it in to Cerritos Infiniti a while back but they wouldn't even look at it. They said I needed an appointment for someone to take a look at the car and the nearest date open was in over 30 days. I never got back.

hey guys. glendale infiniti. initially, they have to call and get authorized for the trim and i heard the same thing from another local dealer i called. at first they also said about the normal wear due to weather, but then i insist that my car is parked on a carport and they know i detail my car. i usually look for sam. he is one of the nicest rep on the dealership.

What's the difference between these two:

Besides the obvious price difference and the fact that one says "10 piece" and the other doesn't? What do you think comes with the non-10 piece???

Also, anybody handy enough with their site to find out how much the plain glossy black would cost? Lastly, if I were to buy the plain glossy black from there, do you think it still has the potential for fading, such as a post-recall/TSB set of trim re-fading???

Cerritos Infiniti sucks IMO. I had one bad experience with them and I'll never go back. All they want is $$ and they don't really care about taking care of their customers or customer retention.

I guess I'll shoot them an E-Mail to figure out what the difference in the 2 kits are... what it comes with.

Also, anybody able to find what the regular black set comes with and feedback on how long recalled versions last until they fade again???

I hate to say this but I don't honestly see Infiniti/Nissan putting out the effort to develop another trimming with different material just to satisfy the few people that will actually complain about this... I mean, Yes... we are all well aware of the problem and Yes, we'll go out of the way to claim the TSB ("we" as in car forum people), but most people that bought the FX that's got the fading issue will most likely do nothing about it... Infiniti would probably rather just give people (who do complain) another set of trimmings and make them happy in hope either they don't fade again OR perhaps the people will have gone on to another car before they do (fade again)... I'm sure in every car company, they have a group of people that figure out the cost vs. lost, they weigh everything out... and of it's not worth it for the company to put the $$$ and effort, then I don't see them doing anything about it... just theory

Well the FX is at the dealer (Cerritos Infiniti) now getting the headlight recall and door actuator replaced. My warranty is ending in May so I thought I'd take the FX in with a list of things and one of them being the fading trim. I was told that Infiniti no longer covers the trim fading issue and if replaced it comes out there Cerritos Infiniti pocket. I was told that they could submit it to corporate for approval but chances was slim that they would approve. I explained that other dealers such as Tustin, Glendale and Metro did the replacements for others no questions asked. Well the service manager said he couldn't be leave that those other dealers would do the work. I'll update to what they say when I go back to pick my FX up......Cerritos Infiniti a :top: or a .

I wonder if bat could make us some overlays for the door trim.

That's a good idea. From what others have said even after there trim was replaced the fading came back after awhile on the replacements.
Another option I was kicking around was going with the chrome trim at roughly $1000 and no more fading.

I think the chrome would go fine on a DG, but I personally dont like the way it looks on an OB. I've pretty much given up on my lower moldings as its been over a year and each time I go see them fools they tell me they will order them. Since I'm off this week I should raise hell with them.:mad::angel::angel:

I got my door moldings replaced @ Infiniti of Monrovia/Duarte. No problem whatsoever.

I always deal with Sheryl, she is really good. Even better than the guys. She has a lowered G35.

Look her up.

how about just painting the trim?

I've been thinking about that... think painting it body color would look bad? (DG)

I wouldn't mind just painting it glossy black, but I wanted to try something a little different... I plan on eventually getting my lower trim painted DG when I get my bumper repainted, but not sure if I should have it gloss black or DG around the windows...

Photo-chop maybe?
