Fading trim TSB

(lack of) update: no calls from the dealer . last word was that the trim and/or the door handle is on national backorder with no eta. if anyone had their trim done recently, let me know how long it took for your dealer to get the parts.

It took Metro Infiniti about 3 weeks or so. When I had mine done a few weeks ago.

This is funny but Parkway Infiniti (Valencia) ordered me new trim pieces this morning. To explain....I went in for warranty issue on my drivers side seat which was developing tears along the sides of the bottom cushion. This seems to be a common issue with brick color seats as there are others on the org with the same issue (will post more on this in another thread). Anyways, when I went into the dealer about 3 months ago and asked the service advisor about the fading trim and was told that it would not be covered. So I left it at that. But this morning that service advisor was not there and so I talked to a different service advisor. I showed him the seat issue first and he agreed it was a warranty issue and would order the part right away. Then I mentioned about the fading trim and that there was a '03 TSB on this. He looked at the trim and said, yea it looks to be abnormal and would be covered under warranty he will order the parts for this too! Well it looks to be good news so far but will wait and see until it is actually on my FX before I am totally satisfied.

okay, just a follow up on this issue...

I HAD to get this done cuz my warranty's expiring on Nov.29th

I was, initially, going to take my FX to Tustin Infiniti, but decided to give Mission Viejo a shot first. A little over a month ago, I took my FX to M.V. Infiniti for an oil change and brought up the trim issue and as I mentioned before, I said to the service guy... "...according to the FX forum I belong to... blah blah blah... " And, someone on the forum said "...Tustin did it, NO PROBLEM" once I said that, they agreed to fixing it with no further convincing. I also threw in the term "TSB"... one of the service guy actually didn't even know what it stands for.

When they were done with the oil change they told me that they'll have to order the parts and will call me within a day or two to schedule an appointment with a loaner for the day, most likely later that week.

...well, about 2 weeks went by, I didn't hear from them. I called them... Service didn't have any records of ordering such parts, so they transfer me over to parts. Parts, had no clue... but told me that they will order it and to give them a call after the weekend (it was a Friday). I totally forgot about the whole thing... then about 2 weeks later... I called Parts and they said that (supposedly) it came in but sat on the shelf, no one claimed it so it got taken off or re-stock'd or some excuse like that. But told me to call Monday (the week of Thanksgiving) to schedule an appointment cuz they should have it.

I called that Monday, schedule'd an appointment for Wednesday (day before Thanksgiving), took the FX in @ 8am. At around 2pm, I got a call from the service department saying something about not ordering the right parts or not having all the pieces or something like that and since it's the day before Thanksgiving they will NOT have my car ready until the following Tuesday. They asked me if I'd mind keeping the loaner til then... and I said "no I don't mind, but can I bring the 06' G35 in and swap it out for an 07' instead?" They said yes...

It worked out great cuz I had plan on doing a ton of driving over the long weekend anyway... better to put the miles on the loaner and NOT my FX. Not to mention less gas $$$

The G35 was nice... I zipped around like Jimmy Johnson... but towards the end I was really missin' my FX.

All and all... they trim looks great! Took a little long to finally get this done... but nothing came out of my pocket so I can't complain.

Good to hear you finally got it taken care of Ken.

I also forgot to update that I had my window trim all replaced under warranty about a month ago. Parkway infiniti replaced all the upper and lower trims. Looks good as new now. If this fades again I think I will just order the chrome pieces from +06 and have that installed.

I will most likely keep the FX but will get another ride later on. But who know things always change in life.

that's cool... the only reason why I said that is because a while ago, I made a comment about the popularity of white cars with black wheels and you "hinted" that it's something you're considering... I, for some reason, assumed you were considering replacing the FX... Which IS good that you're not, of course.

LOL, I'm waiting for him right now... We're meeting @Nordstrom's parking lot in Cerritos Mall. There weren't any traffic coming down so I was waaaaaaaaay early (I'm on my Treo)

Guys are nuts to goto the mall during Xmas shopping season.....:err:

Had fun spending time with you Ken..

I hope all is well with your father and I hope he has a speedy recovery.

The video we took did not come out so well. But I will post some of it latter in the day.

By the way your FX handles great and your Exhaust note sounds good. Yet I do feel that there will be a need to Tune your ECU due to the LMS intake you have.. It is running a bit lean.... Still fast though..

yeah, don't post that video... I had a feeling that it wouldn't turn out good... after I saw the parked black & white I got really weirded out...

But yeah... it was fun, but all the cheese on the pizza didn't sit too well in my stomach (I can't do too much diary). Next time we'll have to do Mexican or some (minus the beans, cuz my stomach doesn't do too well with bean either)

You FX is SICK! Especially seeing it at night!
