Faded window trim

Have some information about the faded window trim if anyone is interested, if you don't already know what's under the black trim.
 
Probably chrome, I thought somebody else found this out already...I can't find the post though. I also remember this did not apply to every car.
 
Your FX looks great with all the black trim, I'm older generation, I really like the chrome around the windows models. I used a good grade of chrome strip around the edges only and it looked really good. Texas heat caused fading every three years or so. Recently I pulled the strip over that faded area we all complain about. When I did that a chunk of the black material came off with it. The faded part is not painted, it's a black vinyl material glued on to metal. What's under the vinyl, a beautiful strip of chrome metal. It's tough to get that vinyl off so after several methods I got one side done and it looks super. I have to use the strip over the opera windows edge though, it plastic. I'd send pictures but all I have right now are on my I phone
