Wats up guys does anyone know if an 05 g coupes muffler will work on my 04 fx35 awd. I got the invidia exhaust currently on looking to just change the muffler. Thanks

It will work, but you need to buy some extensions(ebay), plus tips needs to be extended.

Don't want to go through all that. Thanks though. I'm currently running kinetix hfc with invidia cat back. I get a lot of rasp. I'm thinking what if I just change my muffler will it quite it down. Don't want to get rid of the hfc. I think the invidia muffler I'd giving it all that rasp cause naturally invidia is raspy even before when I didn't have my hfc. Any help appreciated. Or ifnsomeone got an oem muffler that is willing to ship or meet up pm me. Thanks

Can I find resonators on eBay. Where can I find them. If I change the invidia muffler with an oem wont it decrease in rasp. I don't want to start molding the exhaust. Any other solutions. If it comes down to it I'll add more resonators

What brand do you guys recommend is vibrant good. I was also looking at putiing two resonators one on each side. It wont reduce hp even if it does it will be minimal right

I've installed and swapped my resonator three times in the last several months trying to mitigate rasp to no avail. Ivs found that the resonator has a very global effect on the exhaust tone - too much so for me to believe that more/bigger resonators will take get rid of the rassssssp. I haven't wanted to admit that the hfc's are the cause, but at this point it certainly looks that way. This week I'm going to reinstall the oem units to confirm.

I've been switching back and worth trying different setups. I wasted tones of money. I don't like the way it sounds with the stock cats and invidia exhaust i want it to be a little deeper and throaty. Its not a v8 but would like a deeper tone. Ive research and it seems like adding a resonator or two might be what ima go for. I hate it when u floor the car and it goes no where as with the hfc or test pipes I floor it it moves. Since adding a resonator won't affect horse power might up ending going that route.

These are the resonators I've tried. None of them had any specific effect on the rasp...

My first ex mod was a flow master muffler on the oem system. No rasp but lots of drone, so i swapped the OEM resonator for this cylindrical "glass pack" style unit:

.
That lowered the overall volume a bit, and the drone a little more, but it was still very noticeable especially after the resonator break in period.
.
After that I removed the OEM system and installed HFC's, Y-pipe, custom 3" mid pipe, and a Dynomax Super Turbo 3" in/dual 3" out muffler. The rasp was worst with this setup (no resonator):

So I added a resonator like I had with the Flowmaster setup:

.
As I said above, this had no specific effect in the rasp but changed the tone of the system, lowered the volume a bit (along with the volume of the rasp), and removed a bit of drone. Still not happy with the rasp and thinking I could combat it with a resonator, I installed the biggest actual muffler that would fit in place of the glasspack:

This had the same result as the move from no res->glasspack, but obviously the effect was increased. I no longer think I can get rid of the rasp with a resonator, and am reinstalling the OEM cats. If that works I'll be done.

^^ Such a fighter. The tone and flow of the exhaust play a big role on our car. Hope you will eventually get there Tim. I'm very happy with my KaKumei setup. 3" from Y-pipe all the way to the tips. I love it even more now with a change in the in-takes area.

You have OEM cats and the Kakumei y-pipe, right?

So Basically it will be a waste to do the resonators. I should just reinstallnmy stock cats and call it a day

+1 Never heard an HFC on an FX that did NOT rasp.

Mike - if you want response when you step on the pedal, there is what I like to call the "holy trinitiy" of NA FX mods

Intake, Exhaust, Uprev Osiris TUNE. The tune is the most important - you can get 20whp from a tune alone with no mods. If you have changed your intake and exhaust, the tune helps take advantage of the new airflow profile.

There are more things that can be done, like lightweight or underdrive pulleys, a plenum spacer, lighter wheels, etc. But for the best bang for your buck - go for the trinity. For me, the combination netted +34 whp and +35 torque.

And of course, all three of those things change your exahust note under load.

Its official - the Kinetic HFC's were causing, or at the very least not eliminating, my rasp. I just finished reinstalling the OEM cats and the rasp is gone. GONE! HFC's are going up for sale as soon as I get home tonight.

do you have videos of before and after? I'd be curious to here the rasp you are talking about....I had a bit of a rasp in my mustang and loved that sound but maybe it's different on the FX that you are talking about.
