Is it normal for it to rust so quickly? Mine has slight rust inside and outside the tip. There's no damage to it so I don't see why it's rusting so early. Is it even stainless steel?

I just came back from the stealership for oil change. They diagnosed my 2006 fx's muffler is rusted as well as broken at connector. They are quoting me $760 for repair. My question is shouldn't this be at least covered by the basic bumper-bumper warranty (4yr-60,000miles) or the rust warranty (7yr-70,000 miles)? I never had this problem with my previous vehicles (honda's). I just would like to hear everyones insight to this problem. Thanks!
ummmm... they should cover it (im assuming you still have warranty). I had some clunking noise in my muffler. They changed free of charge, and it was a week before my warranty expired
update 5/11/10: I emailed the General Manager of Infiniti of Chantilly last night and told him about my misgivings about the service not being covered under the standard warranty. I just got an email telling me that I can take it back for warranty repair work on my muffler. woo hoo. About time they honor their warranty claims.
fyi - OEM stocks its usually not the muffler (stainless) and this is common with fxs, its the pipe that connects to the muffler is what usually goes (by the connector)... i was almost dupped by a repair shop into replacing my muffler ($500), then i called american muffler, westbury, ny... fixed it for $70 + $10 tip
