Exhaust makes a rattle sound....

Iv had a similar problem and it was the heat shield that had rusted and was making contact with the exhaust. I couldn't refix the heat shield because it was gone beyond repair but rather than remove it I got tubular jubilee clips and tightened them around the pipe and shield and that stopped all the noise

I had a rattle when I accelerated, right around 2000 RPM. Once the needle moved past there it stopped. My mechanic, after a long day of looking, finally found the issue. He said where the exhaust splits into 2, there was a heat shield and a bunch of insulation in there. After trying to silence it a couple different ways, I finally told him to cut it off because he said I didn't really need it. Problem solved! And yes, I won't park with it running over a pile of leaves!
