Hey guys im looking to change up the sound of the exhaust a little bit. I haven't found an exhaust for the FX that to me is worth $1k(Sound,quality,etc). So like i said i want something for the short term until i find my right exhaust to change up the sound and make it a little louder. Currently my exhaust is stock from front to back and you all know how nice the factory exhaust sounds, but i want it a little louder. I found these cat delete pipes on ebay made by Megan Racing that look to be really nice and a good price. I think this is what i am looking for?!?! I would appreciate some feedback from the gang on this idea or other SIMILAR ideas. Thanks!!!

those are pretty much just test pipes. They'll make your exhaust louder but will add some rasp; it's up to you to decide whether or not you like the way it sounds. PLus, I wouldn't go for megan, I would go for berk or motorydyne or stillen. Some of megan's stuff is crapola

The way I understood it removing the resonator=rasp

I figured the fact that it has a small resonator in it would keep the rasp to a minimum. I would look at some of those other brands, but this is temporary and i dont want to pay more than $200. Also im in Florida so conditions arent an issue for rust etc. Ill have to find a vid on youtube or somthing to get an idea of the sound

I'm in the same boat. I haven't found any exhaust that I like for a reasonable price.

Bump for more suggestions!

Can anyone who installed cats themselves tell me what the install is like, i am very mechanically inclined so i dont think its gonna be an issue. Any thoughts?

IMO-Find the right exhaust, don't burn up your hard earned cash on interim mods you are going to toss at a later date......Do the research, Nismo-The Invidia Gemini exhaust is an excellent system. True dual, not too loud, solid gains and I believe they are still running a member price on their first shipment.

its a PITA. the oblts on the stock cats are impossible to get off without just breaking them (you are in FL so it may be different) and you need to go through the engine bay and from underneath to reach them

I dont see a full cat back in the picture at this point and this will be my solution until one comes out that i truly like. I dont care for the sound of invidia and the fact that its dual I dont like, i want all the low end power i can get. The Nismo is ok I just dont LOVE it for the price

Ill have to get under the car and look to see whats what if there rusted and so on

Cats = lots of wd40, elbow grease, cut knuckles and 2-4hrs of your time. Man did I enjoy it!

To me things like that make it all worth it, and hopefully the added sound when i nail it lol

Flowmaster 80 series muffler. Available at almost every parts store, is a direct replacement, deletes the most restrictive part of your exhaust system, is about 25lbs lighter than the stock muffler, and is +/-$225 installed. You can even keep your stock tips. (One of mine is bent from an unrelated incident) If you don't like it, which you will, you can easily sell it as it will fit tons of other cars.

No rev? sounds decent at idle

I recorded a couple with revs but my mic clipped (it's really quite loud) which defeated the whole purpose, so I didn't posted them. I've been swamped with work lately so I haven't had a chance to record more clips. I'll bump it up on the priority list for you.

Get these from MD. Only like $700!

Or just get the Megan resonated pipes. Just know it will probably smell bad.
