Do we have any exhaust wizards here? Before I left for Afghanistan I ended up going with a true dual custom exhaust for my 1st gen fx35. Sounded pretty damn mean and all that good fun. But all in all its pretty loud. I really miss the good ol distinct sound of the fx except I just want a deeper and louder tone but not as loud as funning 4in straight pipes. So my question here is what would I need to do to get that tone back? Would I need to completely go with all new piping or would I be able to just add a muffler rather than the whole system?

There nothing out there that is close the distinct FX exhaust note from the factory that I know of. Add a resonator to each pipe to tone down your current if that is too loud for you. What Y-pipe are you running with currently? Did you also remove the cat in your current?

No y pipe. Its a custom true dual exhaust and its got high flow cats. I may just go with the resonators. I really don't want to drop over a grand for an exhaust system

Are they fully separate, or do the exhaust flows cross at some point? If it's truly separate, that can't sound great, basically like 2 3 cylinder motors. If this is the case, an X-pipe (preferably resonated) would help tone down the noise and make it sound deep. If you already have an X-pipe on there, resonators are an option. Just mount them as forward as possible, the further back they are, the less they do.

Explain the setup and you'll get better responses. Piping size, muffler choice, HFC choice. Are you really running 4" straight pipes?

Completely separate and honestly it sounds great. Just too loud now. I loved it at first but just really miss that true fx growl

i think those two pipes right before the hfc should connect like a x pipe, did you lose torque at all?
