i need an opinion: should i take off my muffler and get straight pipes, or get an actual name brand muffler? i heard my friends g37 without the muffler and it sounds amazing but i don't know how it'll sound on an FX.
 
It may sound amazing, but it's gonna get old really fast. It's nice to hear on another car, but virtually impossible to live with yourself. Trust me... been there, done that, not worth it.

I sometimes get tired of my Nismo....when I WOT its crazy loud.
Specially when I got a date in the car and Im passing someone its just ghetto loud.
 
I dont know about just removing the mufflers and leave nothing there, that would definitely be annoying.
 
I just took off my muffler 2day and put my resonator back on, it sounds amazing. The downside is that since there is no back pressure it takes more power 2 get up 2 the same speeds as b4 so my mileage has gone down a bit. Besides that it was totally worth it.:top:

I had a Flowmaster which would be similar to what you're referring to since it doesn't muffle much, so I can imagine exactly how it sounds.

Doc, the headers might play a small role in the noise... but stepping down from Flowmaster/Test Pipes/Headers down to Test Pipes/Headers to ONLY aftermarket headers... I can say that the muffler plays a huge role.
