exhaust heat shield

so my heat shield are starting to rattle when im driving its getting worst every day..low speed im good but if i wanna over take some one it sound very bad cold starts too..do i really need this heat shield i wanna remove it anyone know whats holding it up

Don't know which you are talking about, but I removed two last month when I put on my new exhaust due to clearance issues.

I took out my heat shield in the tunnel. My Stillen hit it every once in awhile causing vibration.

Just pry them of. Buy some heat wrap off eBay or auto zone and wrap them

They are bolted on. 10mm iirc...

Ohhhhhh, you're talking about the heat shields on the cats! I think the op means the shields on car, above the cats.

It's gotta be the upper but there all one piece now that's only if your referring to the cats.

Hi all, I had a similar issue when I purchased the car from the previous owner. I bought 3 3" hose clamps from Home Depot and tightened them on each end of the Y-pipe heat shield as that seemed to be about where the buzzing was coming from at about 2700 RPM. After adding the hose clamps, my buzzing problem was fixed. Nice and cheap!
