They have pretty detailed launching instructions, but they'll tell you get a clutch. I saw one guy (who, ironically, lives about 5 minutes from me) who has very similar mods pull a 12.6 @ 108mph, he launched the shat out of it on stock clutch. Basically if I gave him my car for a few runs, he'd get 12.5 or 12.6 and my clutch would be almost due for an upgrade... :frown:
 
Yup! I'm hopefully doing an Auto-X event soon (just to try it out and enter an autocross video contest) and more drag racing and, as posted on page 2, my first track time at a road course!!!

I'm having more fun with this car in the course of 2 months than I had in the first 10 months (damn, it really has been that long huh...)

If the FX wasn't SOOOO heavy, I would still have it and it would be twin-turbo'd and at the tracks instead of this Evo X. :tup:

The feeling you get of the FX's handling when you come from most other CARS, and absolutely every other SUV, is like the feeling I have going from the FX to the Evo X.

Clutch + AWD + 2.0L turbo = I suck

I'm done with the drag strip until I get a new clutch at the very least. That's not gonna be until next year so this was the last time for a long time.

The smell of burning clutch is giving me headaches and nightmares and possibly mesothelioma.
 
Contest is now until July 31st, I'm losing, badly. Something like 43 votes to 12. Oh well, no free sway bar for me :embarrassed:
 
i took one of these home in december. same car, used 08 gsr blue with 30k miles for $27k. Drove it for a day, brought it back. Drove me absolutely insane that there's no 6th gear. otherwise loved it.

Ouch, horrible choice! I'd give up a 6th gear to drive this car any day of the week! The gearing is decent, not the best, but you throw a 6th gear in and now your gears are all weaker and you risk having one that is exceptionally weak. I forget which one it is from the 6spd Evo IX, but they had a very fragile 3rd gear or something and people were ALWAYS complaining about the tranny biting the dust because it's weaker. I've NEVER heard of people doing this in the X because it has beefier 5 gears than scrawny 6.

Of course this isn't the case in all cars, lots of other 6 speed trannies have the space accommodations to support all 6 gears of proper sizing, this is not the case with the Evo.

If you wanted 6 gears, get the MR :tonguey: It shifts faster than any human in a MT can ever do, regardless whether or not it's "proper."

Btw mine has 12k miles, maybe if I have to sell it in a pinch it's reassuring to know I'd get at least 27k for it!
