I currently have the Escort Redline radar detector and it is a beast! Straight line KA pickups are almost ridiculous! (Give or take 2 mins to slow down on highway driving) Ive been waiting for awhile now for Escort to release a DirectWire version of their Escort Live service since I have my radar hard wired, and I cant stand those ugly coiled cords hanging from the heavens. Mine will be coming in thursday and I plan to install immediately and pics will follow! I was kind of wondering if anyone has been using this or what other people think of it. Ive been using a similar app called Trapster, but this is completely different since it links up with my Redline. If anyone is interestes I paid $80 for it since ive previously bought products from their site.

I have the 9500ix and have been using the corded live cord with iPhone app the first week it came out last year. In the becoming there weren't many users so I was rarely getting alerts but now more and more users have subscribed to escort live service and it works wonders now. I have gotten saved numerous times now. Live offers two main types of GPS warnings, you have the peer-2-peer ones and the Defender Database. The combination of them is critical as they address a combination of temporary and permanent threats, respectively. The peer-2-peer warnings are designed to alert you to temporary traps, such as a cop setting up a speed trap and mobile cameras. The Defender Database handles fixed speed cameras and red light cameras. The Defender Database is a major advantage to have because it is well developed and maintained. You will rarely get a false alarm from it and it covers a huge portion of existing speed cameras. The peer 2 peer is Also known as 'Live Alerts', these P2P warnings are a combination of user reported and automatically reported data, which serves the purpose of warning users to temporary speed traps. If you are driving in an area where a cop was spotted in the last X minutes, you will get a warning. This warning is color coded to show you how recently it was given so you can prioritize how much attention to give it. After Y amount of minutes, the warning expires as the mobile threat is likely gone. This thing is like Facebook in a way, mobile networking. The more users, the better as each driver basically helps out another driver. As more people start buying and subscribing to live, it is only going to get better and better. I love it abs it's def worth the money.

The direct wire is cool but the only thing I don't like is that it comes with an extra module that you have to mount somewhere on the dash or in arms reach.

Link fixed***

Yeah it kinda seems like ill have the best of both worlds, when i bought the Redline it was 3 months or so before live was released. I was debating between getting the 9500ix or the Redline since the 9500ix had the GPS features, but the Redline had better hard core radar performance. I had heard about the preliminary discussions of the Live service so I went with the Redline knowing this. So now it looks like it will pay off! Cant wait to set it up on friday since i have a roadtrip coming the following week.

Go for it. The Escort PP 8500 x50 and the newer 9500ix have the same mount design so it is compatible. Looks cleaner and had this OEM look. Some friends asked me if it was part of the car's set up.
