Please help got this annoying tick. Been looking this up for a while now and never seem to find any straight forward answers it ticks at idle and goes faster when accelerating it drives me crazy. Does anybody know what to do to fix this. TIA
 
Might be valve tick?

The VQ does not have self adjusting lifters, so the valve lash may need to be adjusted. I would try a thicker oil 5w-40, if that doesn't solve the problem, then take it into a mechanic and have them adjust the lifters.

I heard running a different oil weight isn't good
 
I have an 03 FX45. I've been using 5W-40 since 2013. I using thicker oil due to oil consumption issue. With this weight, it helps out quite a bit.

In the VQ's case it seems to like a little heavier oil. I switched from the factory 5w30 to a 5w40 at the recommendation of a buddy who works at infiniti and my car seemed to like it a lot.
