Hello i am in the middle of changing out my 05 fx35awd engine. I am not a mechanic i dont even have a garage .after i was quoted 3800 for the labor i decided i am going to do this one my self .i am keeping everything the same not changing anything. It all worked fantastic before .not one to mess with what works . I had 272000k on it i knew the motor was hurt around 260k. Started using crazy amounts of oil never saw smoke or leak.at 268k thats when smoke was seenen under hard acceleration then more randomly .then the rods knock...i have basic tools .some dewLt impacts couple floor jacks an stands .it can definitely e done with out haveing to drop the trans to.its not easy at all but it can be done .theres a couple things i did if anyone is interested Message me i will gladly share
