Engine Swap or Cylinder Head Job?

Lkq is a good place to start.... but they mainly deal with big shops and dealerships. A single person trying to warranty or get info might be left hanging.

I know of a local guy that should be able to get u vq35de motors mainly pulled off a g35.

I don't know how different they are. But he is in burbank and normally asking for sub $1000 for working pull motors.

Let me know if u need another hand. I'm normally free Saturdays.

$700 for the engine with 95K miles. $1,600 for the swap at local shop.

Was it an engine that you saw before purchasing or did you buy it sight unseen?
Any issues with it upon delivery or during the installation?

I’m guessing this was a shop in LA. Unfortunately I’m in Pittsburgh and performance shops or even car shops in general don’t appear to be as popular.

Engine bought from ebay based on seller's description. No issues

Good idea. Hadn’t thought about the 350z tuning. One of those is reasonably close to me. Thanks for the link and tip [emoji106][emoji2535]

For anything aftermarket that's the place to go for the FX. I use SpecialtyZ here in SoCal - and I drive 45 minutes away to use them because I found a shop I can trust. The 350Z guys get a kick out of us.

Makes sense. When I lived in SoCal I’d only have RRE (Road Race Engineering) work on my Eclipse. Dang! I miss those days. Fun times. Would be great to find a shop like that for my FX in Pittsburgh though I won’t be tuning this car. Thanks again for the tips. I did call one of the shops today. Left a message hope to hear back from them soon.

OK so now I’m not sure my engine is actually seized. From what I understand if your engine is seized it won’t crank (turn over) if you try to start it? I tried to start it just to see what would happen and it actually started spinning or cranking even though it never turned on. I only did this for two or three seconds. I also took a wrench and was able to spin my crankshaft pulley. Would you be able to do these things with a seized engine?

Could I instead have a failed water pump?

Regardless I think I may want to replace the engine anyway because of the massive oil leak.

LKQ will work with anyone, and tell you how many miles are on the “Tear-out” replacement parts.

They work with like 600 salvage yards too.

No, I don’t work for them, but I was impressed by them.
