Hi guys, today I installed the usb interface. what i did was taking out the SAT cable and replacing it with the interface cable. Everything was plugged back properly. when I start the car the engine light was on and wouldnt gro away. what could possibly go wrong here? I didn't disconnect the battery during the installation if that makes a difference. Any comments will be greatly appreciated guys! Thanks.

First things first, try resetting the ECU. Unplug the battery negative lead for at least five minutes. If your radio presets are gone, the reset worked. Hopefully that will clear the light.

If that doesn't work, try reversing your GROM install. Put the SAT back the way it was and if this clears the light, then it seems to be some effect from the install?

It might be completely unrelated - to know for sure you can find the code the ECU is throwing out from anybody that has an OBDII scanner. If you go to the dealership for service (for any reason) just ask them to check the SES light /ECU code. Then you'll know for sure what part of the car the ECU is complaining about.

Jumbo: thanks for the tips, I would definately give it a try. I'll keep you guys updated.

Trojan: how to check for error codes? same as by using the OBD2 scanner?> Thanks

Wow, I'm sure just pure coincident that engine service light comes on after installing GROM. I did mine and a friend's without any issue. I definitely want to find out what is the trouble code that cause the light to come one. Go to Autozone if you don't have an OBDII scanner. I would be interesting to see what caused.

hey guys, my friend did a scan on the car and turned out it was the outside temperature and low fueling codes. not sure how that happened but he cleared the codes with the obd2 scanner. any thoughts on what could be the cause of these? Thanks again for your insights!

hey la_fx35, I sent you a PM days ago regarding the Grom Audio. so after I installed the device, I figured out that you can change songs with the steering wheel control by pressing and holding the button. one thing i noticed is that when i skip songs, they tend to do it in random mode. is there any way I can turn off the random mode? Because I don't see any RANDOM or SCAN buttons for that matter. Mine is non-navi by the way. Thanks

okay, I just called my friend and he said that the temperature and fueling sensors are connected to the stereo interface. When I removed the panel and put it back, it caused some errors and hence the engine light was on.

JLee, sorry I forgot to reply to your pm. My bad.

Anyhow, this is how I know to program the steering wheel controls to forward to the next song. While playing a song in USB or iPod (Aux) mode, you program all 6 preset buttons (press and hold till you hear a beep to confirm programmed) to the playing song, then you can use the steering wheel controls. I found that it can only forward to the next song. I can't go back to the previous song. With the steering wheel controlled programmed, I found that the rev/back to the previous song is very hard to do even on the head unit. I couldn't get random play to work at all. My steering control doesn't random play, it properly skip to the next in order. Sounded like GROM still have some bug to iron out.

My dashboard lights all triggered as well while installing the GROM. I was able to reset ECU by turning the car on, counting to 3, pumping the gas 5 times, then counting to ten, then holding the gas pedal down for ten seconds, then releasing, counting to ten, then holding the pedal down another ten seconds. I was also able to reset the airbag light by turning the car on, then turning it off the second the air bag light blinks off for the first time (turn off before it blinks back on). Repeat that process 4 times and airbag light will stay off. I reset the TPMS by putting a different pressure in each of the four tires (I forget the exact psi but can be found online easily - I would post a link but I'm still an Infiniti scene newbie so I can't). I then removed the lower panel (by drivers left knee) and grounded the wire found there 6 times. The only light I can't reset is the amber light that says "key" if anyone knows a DIY trick to reset this, I would love to know it. Thanks.
