Engine noise?

Hi, I've just got a 07 FX35 for a couple days, and this is my very first Infiniti. Me and my wife love this car a lot for the look, color and comfort. The car drives good and rides a bit bumpy (but hey I have an Evo, so it's nothing to me at all :ever:), however we do realize that the engine noise is kinda loud - noticable - whenever I step on the gas. It's kinda quiet at the idling though. The noise does sound healthy though.

But I'm asking to see if this is normal on the 07 FX35 though? I test drove an 09 and it is much quieter though. So, I was just thinking that the redesign and upgrade must have fixed the engine noise issue.

Please let me know what you think and your opinion on what I should check and look for. Any input would be highly appreciated :tonguey::tonguey::tonguey:

:iS: rocks

Nope, the car should be 100% stock. And the noise is coming from the front and I'm 80% sure that is the engine noise too. Again, it sounds healthy and nothing "cranky" nor "clicking", it's just that "noticable" that causes me wonder if that's normal with all the 07 FX35?? Especially after I test drove an 09 and it wasn't that "noticable" at all.

Perhaps the previous owner modified the exhaust? But upon WOT the FX will growl due to the design of the oem exhaust.

as for the ride, I assume you are running Goodyear RSA, change them to Yokos or Hankook and the ride will improve. Also changing the springs to H&R will improve the ride w/o harshness or bumpiness.

can you pop the hood and have someone rev it to hear where its coming from?

So, the noise isn't "normal" and it's indicating somethig is wrong here?? :k: My wife is gonna kill me over this :tears:

Thanks - and I will check on these items, i believe I can check for the intake leaks myself, right?? :ehh:

possible worn belts , check for intake leaks or try doing an oil change.

Good idea - that'd be on to-do list in this evening

A little update: I did complete my to-do list earlier in this evening. And the engine was reving okay. I didn't hear any weird/cranking/clicking noises from the engine bay at all. However, I did feel a "thrust" of air backinng out from the air intake scoop when the gas pedal was released during the reving. I believe that it's normal too - but worth for mentioning on here. My very first mod would be a pair of smoke-color license cover
