My engine light is on but the catalytic converter leaks because its after market fake which am ready to replace could that be the reason to have the engine light on..

Go to Autozone to have them scan for the diagnostic trouble code and go from there.

For $15 you can get a Bluetooth obd2 scan tool that you can use with your smart phone. I invested $20 in app and adapter. Can't recommend it enough!!
