I noticed the other day my engine fans roaring at idle shortly after starting the car in the cold, the fans have never kicked on unless its very warm out. I did some diagnostics, checked all fuses, wiring, and relays. All seemed to check out good. Now the fan is switching from high, medium, and low back and forth. Very strange, i dont have any codes in the computer and the ect is working properly. Im not exactly sure what the problem is here and dont want to waste money having the dealer diagnose it for me.

Anybody have any ideas? Worst case i could buy a used fan off Ebay and try that but i hate just throwing parts at a car in hopes to fix the issue. Also it seems the g37s use the same fabln. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks dudes.

A/c switch stuck on/off? Bad fcm?(part of fusebox). It might have a stuck on signal to the relay. Youd need a wiring diagram to check that though. It could also your ect wire shorting out somewhere

I had this same exact issue a while back. Took it to the dealership and they looked over it for 3 hours and finally figured out the the whole fan assembly went bad. Mine would work constantly cold, warm, high low and all that. They had to special order the fan assembly. I dont recommend going with a used fan assembly. It will be a headache down the road. Best of luck to you.

Good to know, yeah im not paying the dealer 3 hrs diag time @120 an hr lol. Im just going to order a low mileage used fan, i confirmed that the g37 fans will fit so i have a lot of options on used low mileage ones. Im not paying 500 for a new oem.

Actually i think i have it narrowed down the the fan control module thats mounted to the the fan. I found one on Ebay for $75
