Eibach Spring Install on 09 FX35 AWD

Well, it's been about 3 weeks since my Eibachs were installed. I took another set of measurements and they have settled a bit more. I would say on average the drop is now about 1.12" at all corners.

I installed my Enkei GTC01 Racing wheels today. They are 20 x 8.5" with a 40mm offset and are Hyper Black. I chose them for their looks and light weight. I may run 15mm spacers in the future.

Here are a few pics from today after 3 weeks with the Eibachs and my 20's.

looks very good, is that a little camber i notice in the back or is that just me?

Ride looks great. Little lower & spacer would be perfect, but you dont really need too. It works

Yes it is Sepan, that is the best they could do with camber after the install. It is a bit out. It sure handles great set up this way, I love it. I will be getting it checked again in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks Dave :smile (2):

looks great man, mine are in the shop waiting for me but no time to go in haha.

Looks good Wayne, looks like my car minus the wheels lol...DG FTW! So it does settle a bit, hmmm.. That would make the drop between the eibachs and the H&R's almost the same; the latter being more expensive and the former having a quality issue history.. Not sure if that makes it an easier decision or not.

How do the springs and strut bar feel?

I love the springs, it is definitely a bit firmer but it is also an improvement in handling, and takes to the corners much flatter now. I find myself taking to the twisties at a faster clip now and my wifey doesn't even complain :wink (2):. As to the quality issue (spring breakage for a few people in the northern climes where salt is used on the roads), I applied a liberal coating of rust preventer on all four springs when they were installed. I will do this each spring and fall during wheel changeout, and I am sure that problem will be eliminated.

I will be putting the GTSPEC front Strut brace on in a few more days. I didn't want to put them on when the springs were done because I wanted to see what difference each mod actually did.

Looks really nice Wayne, even better that you are digging the ride!
Thanks Lance, it's going to be fun when we take the FX on our cross Canada cruise this summer. I can hardly wait, only problem is how these rising fuel prices will affect our 6 week drive .

Is rust proofing spray something you can do at home or does it need to be done at a specialty shop? Better yet, can the guys that swap/align your summer and winter setups do this for you?

You can get the rust proofing in a spray and it is easy to apply.
I use Rust Check Coat & Protect for exposed areas underneath : http://www.rustcheck.com/rustcheck.asp
Another real good product that I have used to protect parts is LPS3: http://www.lpslabs.com/product_pg/corrosion_pg/LPS3.html

I always change my own summer and winter setups, I purchased a great low rise aluminum trolley flloor jack from Tire Rack this year. It makes it real easy. Highly reccomend it.

I like the LP3 spray... I wonder if it is applied to the spring prior to compression whether the soft, waxy layer will crack once it's under load; might be better to spray once it status post install.

I suggested the LPS3 spray to a friend for his coilovers. He sprayed them when he installed them and when it came time to part out his car, he told me the LPS was still giving it great protection and theywere still well coated. It's easy to reapply once in a while also.

wow GEE35FX that looks amazing. For some reason the rear seems a lot lower than the front. Are you carrying a large load in the cargo area?

And another 10mm outwards should make the wheels flush  But it's definitely an improvement over the stock 20x8s. Looks fabulous.

Looking good!
Thanks Jonas

Thanks globe, No extra weight in the back, just a full tank of fuel. The measurements to the wheel openings on all 4 corners are within a 1/4" or better . It could be because I was parked on a bit of a slope.
