ECU reset issue

I went to my dealer to do NYstate inspection, and they found the computer cannot read 3 things.
The Manager asked me if I saw check engine light on or have disconnected the battery.

Actually, I did toe-dance ECU reset yesterday.
I didn't tell them about this, but now I'm wondering it's the reason of the computer stop reading.

Anyone had similar issue before?

you mean "Service Engine Soon" light? Did you make sure you turn pass 3 clicks on the gas cap the last time you got gas? I know it sounds stupid... but it could be as simple as that... I know, cuz I did that once...

If you reset your ecu right before the inspection that will cause you to not pass (readiness codes will now show ready), they can tell that you just reset it and won't pass you because they think you are hiding a check engine light or code. They will probably tell you to drive around for a couple days or certain amount of miles before you get the re-inspection.

What was the reason you reset the ecu?

+1 That is why you didn't pass. This also happens when a new battery is installed. So make sure to remember to drive your vehicle a day or two before heading over to get inspected should one of these things occur.

Thanks fxlr8 and Dr.2K... trainerKEN too.

Last week I went down to Pittsburgh, PA, and response of gas pedal was a bit late than I felt before.
I haven't added anything on my FX for a while, and nothing was supposed to be changed.
So I just tried to reset and see.

I will drive a couple of days, and take it to the dealer again.

it usually only takes around 60 miles varying speeds of driving to reset all of the "readiness monitors" in the ecu...

dave// I've done very basic mods so far.
1/2 Plenum spacer, LMS Z-tube... but those were done already 2 yrs ago.
After change K&N filter to AFE a few weeks ago, I feel the response of gas pedal delayed.
That's why I reseted.

Ya, just curious. ECU reset is likely the way to go. Dont think it applies here, but on my old integra, I got delay with a cone filter added, so was curious of your setup. Seems like that's you're only change. It's an exposed cone, yes?

It will go back to normal in a week. I thought my car felt weird after ECU reset (battery disconnect method).

Mongolian// after battery method reset you may have stupid gas mileage for about a tank.
after that, should be fine.

dave// yes, but I had same issue when I went to drop-in K&N from OEM. reset fixed that delay.
