E&G Grilles Installed (upper and lower)

It will definitely look better in black IMO.

This is the same E&G grille?

Did you have to do much drilling to install this grille? I was going to order this grille sometime back until I saw the warning in the instructions that minor drilling was needed to install the upper grille. How easy/difficult was the upper install and was the drilling, if any was needed, a lot?

Fml, why do these mesh grilles look good on the 2nd gens?
Are there any pics of mesh grilles on the 1st gens?

It wasnt difficult at all to install as long as you read the instructions, take your time and are at least a little handy I'd say about a 3 on a 1 to 10 scale. The drilling is es exactly that "minor". Heres two screen shots off my phone showing where exactly you have to drill. Also I just wanted to add that both of the grilles I have installed have extra mesh protection behind them that the former owner put in place so that nothing would get through to any of the engine parts which I left in place when I put it on. It looked good he did a nice job and serves a purpose.

I might do that later but as of right now I like the way it looks. Im gonna post some daytime pics later so you guys can see its not as "blingy" as those night shots make it look. ed you really should get it, it looks so much nicer in person and makes a huge difference to the front end. And for those who have the aero lips should be tits. Im sure you wont be dissapointed. Damn I need a good camera!

IMO the 1st gen grilles are more flush to the surface and a grill that is blockier or more substantial just fits visually by breaking up the surface lines. The 2nd gens grills are inset like an intake and the mesh is more of a covering over the opening. Not a big fan of the mesh on the 1st gens but think it works on the 2nds. I also like it in black, the chrome "Cadillac style" look just doesn't say "sport"......

nice write up, but i am shock that you had to make extra holes with my strut grille it was just like plug and play the holes on the car and grille matched up perfect.

^^ you didn't have to drill for the strut b/can of its price.. For that $$ it better slide into place like butter.. And make me a sammich on the side.

Interseting that you didnt have to drill mike. It was easy nonetheless. And the lower grille literally took me five minutes. Bolted straight in.
