I know that a replacement bulb is 7443 but I took some hyper white bulbs (7440) off of my old car and were wondering if there was any way of making it work.
i found out what the difference between the 2 were by searching online but i still have no clue if this is possible.

thanks

Yes it will. This has been posted as a sticky for reference.

Would I have to reverse the pins to the other side?

I tried just putting the bulb in but it doesnt turn on. I'll try putting the old ones back on and it that doesnt work either i'll check the fuse.

^^Then try turning it 180 degrees and reinsert it. That should do it.

i havent had time to try check the fuse or put in the other bulbs but i have spun the bulb many times with no luck :frown:

Maybe a bad bulb? Does the bulb not work in both DTRL's?
correct

last night i changed it back to the original bulb and that worked.
tried the new bulb with pins swapped, nothing.
tried the turn signal bulbs since i know those work, nothing.

looks like i'm going to have to buy some 7443s

Wait a minute...I think I read your Oop wrong. I thought you were referring to 7440 LED bulb? Are you talking about regular 7440 light bulbs? Because the LED version of the 7440 bulbs works but I am not sure about normal 7440 bulbs working as a replacement for the normal 7443 bulbs in our DTRL.

7440 are dual filaments right? If so then I have it and it works. Basically I am using the ones from my turn signals. I really like them since its always on "bright" yellow. (non led)

Normal bulbs or LED? Some maybe dual but perhaps not all from all manufacturers.
Some may also have higher voltage requirements too.

the regular ones (its actually the yellow oem one from the blinker). Also I did the DTRL mod so they are on when the car is on (regardless of the light position).

* Isn't all voltage for bulbs 12v? (on autos)

Not absolutely sure myself Allen.

12v DC is auto voltage, the electronics will use 12v or step down to +- 5v (for PCB, radio, etc.). the rest of the car uses 12v DC. The bulbs get different brightness based on the filament. That is also why sometimes when a LED bulb gets plugged in wrong, the polarities are wrong. Just twist bulb around and the + and - are matched up with the LED.

Whispaz, you can also check to see if the bulb is bad by using a volt meter, checking ohms and if there is a break in the bulb, if there is NO ohms, bulb is bad (open contact).
