Hi all. I'm a middle-aged crisis - doubting, computer-savvy boomer, wrench-able and willing to learn noob. 3rd owner to a new-to-me fx35 with 244K on the clock. Still driving well, still pulls well. Clocked 20mpg on my first drive up long, high canyons. This car has rust, has lived in salty/snowy Utah ski areas, and the PO obviously lied about history; this thing has hit/run over all sorts of something hard (hidden/incidental undercarriage damage). I'm embarking on the journey of a cheap "beater-car" for a learning teenage daughter that I've now decided is mine. I'm determined to bring it back to life. This is a wonderful car and deserves more attention than it's had. My car's been through the ringer. I've replaced tons of stuff... but this forum has been invaluable to me in getting things fixed and replaced cheaply and right. Without dealership costs, I will be able to fix this car up with minimal cost if I'm willing to bust some knuckles and bleed a little. Worth it. Good ride, solid foundation. Even if I have to replace a engine (first time for everything), I'll still be out ahead of the same price for another car. Thanks for the info, you are all invaluable.
