Door Actuator Replacement - For Under $5!!!!

Well this is strange. The driver's door lock works perfectly well today. I thought that the actuator would either work or fail. I wonder what happened...

toy4x, did you have a purple and gray wire? I just started working on mine and I have a purple wire but no gray. I don't want to guess but i also don't want to take the whole door apart.

Vash610, did you figure out your wire situation?

I did this back in Sept of 09. I purchased 3 actuators from PartsExpress.com. Mine worked for a while, then the actuators started to fail. I would replace them, and they eventually failed again. I didn't do a write up because I wanted to make sure this worked perfectly for a longer period of time. My actuators sucked....I just got fed up with the failing actuators....and ended up going back to stock

I ended up purchasing the stock actuators from Riverside Infiniti for approx $150 ea...AND since I cut out the door handle like you, I had to buy a new one from InfintitpartsUSA for another $50.

My experience...very similar to how you did it, but I made a bracket and took the foam out. Hopefully your actuators work better than mine....

Finally finished this project. My actuator had four wires. purple, yellow, black, and white. Purple and yellow was the right combo for me.

I just did my rear driver side door today and I had to guess the wires. I had 4 wires, 2 blue/gray, and 2 purple/gray. I just took a random guess and did one blue to the green from the aftermarket actuator, and the one purple to the purple from the aftermarket actuator. It worked! Just finished it today. It isn't perfect blue the lock doesn't open all the way, but it works. Thanks for the write-up it definitely helped!

I did this on my front passenger door over the last two nights after work. Harder than I expected. The bracket I made wouldn't quite fit and I didn't quite understand what parts I needed to cut smooth (I thought I did )

I did one door. Took two hours? About to do drivers door today. Works better than ever. Very strong!
ordered 6 from amazon for $19 shipped next doors should be WAY EASIER NOW

Did the passenger side rear door today. Tapped into a blue and a purple. There were two of each. Not sure if either would work but the two I picked worked

I was wondering if anyone has tried to spray some silicone oil on the actuator itself if it sticks and if it worked for them. My back door sometimes does not work . On and off and was thinking of this as a solution

Your fix does sound good, so *1 for you

Installed the new rear door actuator(universal), now the other 2 are not working(won't close). Has anyone had something like that before? All 3 were working fine before, 1 was bad. Now 2 OEM actuators are bad. 1 universal and 1 OEM are working fine.

I'm thinking that the aftermarket actuator takes too much power now?

Thoughts?

Don't spray silicone spray in there. the motor itself is sealed in a plastic housing so it will never get in unless you take the door off and remove the factory actuator then take it apart.

Thank you, I didn't know that. I would of made more of a mess than anything

What I have found in the past is when 1 of them has gone bad the rest are not to far behind so its not strange at all .Its not drawing to much amps from your car.I know someone that had all 4 go bad in the same day. He came to me to check out the fuses.First thing i did was press the door lock switch and saw they moved a little. I told him all of the door lock actuators were bad. He questioned it because it happened to all 4 on the same day.He came back to me and told me that i was right and that he took it to the dearer and they wanted almost 2 grand to fix it. He gave me the Ok to fix it for him

After experiencing the exact same problem on my 2005 FX35 on all 4 doors i decided to come up with my own fix. I have instructions that are specific to each door and include all the hardware to wire in(no soldering) mount, and install in under an hour. Check out my website USActuators.com to get a kit and fix these crappy locks that infiniti installed.
