When I got a loaner from the dealer when I used to take my car in to the dealer for services, I always returned it as is. I never filled the car back up and they never said anything here. It might be different now...

if you didn't sign any papers for the loaner that indicated anything about gas or the condition of the vehicle, then you don't have to bother about anything, just return them as is.

At my dealership, they mark on a piece of paper what the tank was at when you got the loaner and request you return it near that.

NY and NJ dealers wants the loaners returned filled. Toss in some 87octane if you are frugal.

Havnt been to the dealer in years, but they used to mark how much was in the tank also

Until they try to charge you 7 bucks a gallon like a rental company. Read the fine print maybe

When I first got my FX back in 04, I remember using the car and returning it without filling. These days when I sign out a loaner, they mark the level of the tank on the loaner agreement and ask that I return it around the same level. If I'm just driving from the dealership to work and then back at the end of the day, I don't bother filling up the tank. Overnight and I'll put a couple gallons in. If I did not fill it they do charge some crazy amount per gallon.

IMO it totally depends on your dealer and where you got the loaner from. They should have told you - or you can just call and ask.

Return the loaner with the same amount of gas it had when you picked it up.

When I bought my first Infiniti in 2006, they never said anything about returning the car with a specific amount of gas. Now they require it be filled to the same level as when I picked it up, which is usually half a tank.

Loaners/rentals always require returning with the same amount of gas
^^^That's the way it has always been with any place I have dealt with, and that's over the last 40 years.

My experience is pretty limited. I've had three loaners ever, two from the same Infiniti dealer and one from my local Audi dealer, rented a couple U-Hauls and a rented few cars while out of town. With respect to RENTALS, I have always had to return them with the same amount of fuel. With the loaners however, nothing has ever been said to me about refueling and I've never been charged for it. Maybe I'm just lucky...
